“I Dare You” Book Tag

idareyoubooktag

I know it’s been months since Michelle from Firstbooklove tagged for this, but better late than never. Oh and don’t forget to check out her wonderful blog and show her some love! She’s definitely one of my fave book bloggers.

RULES:

  • You must be honest
  • You must answer all of the questions
  • You must tag at least 4 people

1 – WHAT BOOK HAS BEEN ON YOUR SHELF THE LONGEST?

Not counting the books I was required to read for school, I would say it’s The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. It would have been one of the Chicken Soup books for teens, but I gave those away already. After that, probably my copy of the Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot book 1 and 2, but I gave those away too because they kind of smelled funky and looked all worn out from being in storage. I do intend on buying the books again, reread them, and finally finish the series.

2 – WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT READ, YOUR LAST READ, AND THE BOOK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

Been going through a rather stressful and upsetting several days at work, so I am still reading Pen and Xander by Laekan Zea Kemp (I’m ALMOST  done though — maybe another 20 mins). I stopped reading The Key of Everything by Paula Stokes because I really want to enjoy that story and at the moment my mind is just not into it. I honestly don’t know what book I’ll be reading next, but I have a few blog tours lined up so it would definitely be one of those books. My last read was a novella, Collide by Nicole Sobon. It took me about an hour or so to finish and I enjoyed it.

3 – WHAT BOOK DID EVERYONE LIKE, BUT YOU HATED?

I rarely ever hate a book, but the last one I remember not really liking was A Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller. Not sure if everyone likes it, but I definitely saw plenty of people who does.

4 – WHAT BOOK DO YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOU’LL READ, BUT YOU PROBABLY WON’T?

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I have the book and I really wanted to read it before the movie came out…but I just don’t want to read a sad book right now. I actually do like it when books give me all the FEELS and make me cry… but this one just seems too depressing for me.

5 – WHAT BOOK ARE YOU SAVING FOR YOUR RETIREMENT?

I guess whatever I have left on my TBR. Knowing myself, I’ll still have hundreds left to read.

6 – LAST PAGE – READ IT FIRST OR WAIT TIL’ THE END?

I’ve never understood why anyone would read the very last page. I’m sure it still doesn’t give away much, but I love being able to experience the story not knowing how it’ll end.

7 – ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: WASTE OF PAPER AND INK, OR INTERESTING ASIDE?

I don’t read it all the time, but I think it’s definitely interesting. I also think it’s awesome that authors thank their readers, reviewers, and bloggers.

8 – WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?

Pretty much every single kick ass lead. It also depends on my mood — right now I’d do anything to trade places with Hermione.

9 – DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING SPECIFIC IN YOUR LIFE? (PLACE, TIME, PERSON?)

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks reminds me of an ex-boyfriend.

dearjohn

10 – NAME A BOOK THAT YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY

I got nothing… I don’t think I’ve had a book acquired in an interesting way. I usually buy my books, get them from giveaways or authors, or from book festivals.

11 – HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?

I let an ex-boyfriend borrow and hold on to my copy of A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. I guess in some way I gave it to him…but I really wanted it back when we broke up.

12 – WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?

I don’t really bring my books to different places because I’m always afraid I’d damage or lose it. If I really love a book, I would just buy an ebook version, so I can always read it whenever. But before ebooks, I definitely brought The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks with me whenever I moved.

13 – ANY “REQUIRED READING” YOU HATED IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD TWO YEARS LATER?

I’ve never reread anything I read in high school. I have a few faves and I didn’t necessarily hate any books… so I’m just going to go with The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn because I was so bored with that book. That being said, I think I just didn’t give it a chance back then. Maybe if I reread it 2 years later I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

14 – USED OR BRAND NEW?

Love brand new books. But if I can get used books at a cheaper price and the books are in good condition, I’m totally fine with that.

15 – HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?

Nope… and I don’t think I ever will.

16 – HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MOVIE THAT YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE BOOK?

I don’t think so. I LOVE the HP movies, but I haven’t finished the series yet.

17 – HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT’S MADE YOU HUNGRY, COOKBOOKS INCLUDED?

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and Wait for You by JLA. I love cakes and cookies and sweets… Pretty much any dessert.

18 – WHO IS THE PERSON WHOS BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?

I’d go with the same answer as Michelle and say ME! I’m absolutely open to other people’s advice and recommendations, but I definitely know what I love to read.

19 – IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (OUTSIDE OF YOUR USUAL READING GENRE) THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?

I’ve never been fond of thrillers or mysteries, but after reading Vicarious by Paula Stokes, I’m more open minded about them.

  1. I actually really like the required reading we do in school; it seems I’m a minority when it comes to that, haha. We even were assigned a single chapter in Into the Wild by John Krakauer (great book) and most of the class complained, yet I love it. I’ve only disliked one book I had to read, and that was The Nose by Nikolai Gogol–I don’t recommend reading it!

    • I did like a lot of the books I read in high school and college. My teachers made the class analyze every single chapter and part of our homework was to make annotations in our books… So all my books had plenty of writing haha. I definitely think that I would appreciate them more now.

I’ve never even heard of The Nose lol… but with all the books I have on my TBR, it’s safe to say that I will never get to that book haha.

      • I try to annotate my books but because I’m so caught up in reading them that I forgot to do so. 😂 I did that in The Scarlet Letter and I even charted out how the books “halves” reflected each other greatly. I love analyzing literature!

      • That’s great! I really enjoyed that about my English classes in high school. I haven’t annotated anything in my books since then cause I get caught up too. I also don’t really like writing or highlighting in my books anymore haha. If I remember, I write in one of my notebooks. That’s why I really like ebooks also… I can just highlight all my favorite parts and then go back to them later on.

I don’t try to analyze literature as much as I did in high school. My mind is so occupied with so many different things that when I read I want to get lost and just relax. That’s why my reviews aren’t too critical. If I had fun and I enjoyed the book, then that’s all that really matters to me. Now, if I was paid to analyze and edit books like an editor, then I’d do it with pleasure (I actually don’t mind reading other people’s works and helping them make it better — it’s pretty fun). My current job is just so mentally draining that I just want to rest my brain while reading books lol. Not to mention, it’s been soooo blah lately. Going to try and remedy that soon… hopefully. I really want to find a better job… one where the working environment isn’t so stressful or unprofessional.

Oh I really liked The Scarlet Letter. That’s actually one of my faves. The Great Gatsby, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and The Catcher in Rye are some of my other faves.

  2. Thank you SO much for the tag! It sucks that an ex stole one of your books, I’m sure if you asked Twitter there would be plenty of Book Dragons willing to hunt him down for you 😉

  4. Thanks for the tag!

I’m sorry things at work are sucky right now 😦 There are few things worse than having to be at a place every day that is stressing you out. I’m kind of in the same boat lately, too.

I rarely ever hate books, too! There are books that just aren’t for me, but I haven’t met a book I’ve hated yet. That could be because I try to read books I hope I’ll like rather than ones I know I won’t LOL

Me Before You is super sad, and while I also don’t like sad books, I really enjoyed that one. I loved the movie, too, but you def should read the book.

I never read the last page, either! It’s like… WHY

I’ll do this one as soon as I can.. it may be months, too LMAO

    • My brother’s gf keeps telling me to read Me Before You. Maybe when I’m not dealing with all this work stress.

Aww sorry you’re dealing with work issues too. They are definitely not pleasant and puts me in such a blah mood. But I had a restful weekend. Didn’t get to go to Disneyland as planned cause I kind of slept through the alarm. At least, I got some good sleep.

Can’t wait to read your answers!!!

Hope you have a great week hun!

    • I’m slowly getting into mysteries. I didn’t think they would be fun, but they are. And if there’s romance — even better. I love NA books too! Just haven’t been reading much of them lately.
