The Nope Book Tag

nopetag

Hi bookish friends and Happy Friday! Hope you’re all having a great day so far. It’s been a while since I’ve done a book tag and I have a LONGGGGGG LIST to go through. I spent some time looking at them and tried to schedule them so we’ll see how it goes.

Anywayyyyyy…. I saw this tag over at Hammock of Books. I wasn’t tagged but that has never stopped me before. Plus, this one seemed easy enough and looked fun so why not.

If you’re not following Kay over at Hammock of Books, then go visit and follow her now. Her blog is one of my faves and she’s also such a sweetheart!

NOPE. ending: A book ending that made you go NOPE either in denial, rage or simply because the ending was crappy. This book had potential and I really did want to like it, but it just didn’t work for me. The ending was seriously such a let down. It felt rushed and unfinished. I thought there was an epilogue or something, but nope. It just ended and it was seriously so frustrating. REVIEW

Mr60

NOPE. protagonist: A main character you dislike and drives you crazy. I had to go through my READ section in Goodreads because there aren’t many protagonists that I dislike. I almost wanted to skip this one, but I found someone. Emmy from Kiss Me, Kill You by Larissa C. Hardesty. I honestly, don’t remember specifically what bothered me about her, but based on my review, Emmy was dense and flat and I couldn’t relate to her at all and felt no emotional connection. I guess that answers why I can’t remember. REVIEW

NOPE. series: A series that turned out to be a huge pile of nope after you’ve invested all of that time and energy on it. I haven’t found one yet and I hope I never do. I don’t read anything I know I won’t like and I don’t force myself to read if I’m not in the mood, so I hope I never come across a series that eventually would be a huge pile of nope.

NOPE. pairing: A “ship” you don’t support. Bella and Jacob and Renesmee and Jacob. I love Jacob, I really do, but not with Bella or Renesmee. It was just a little creepy with Renesmee and just a big NOPE with Bella.

twilight

NOPE. plot twist: A twist you didn’t see coming and didn’t like.  The plot twists in these two books seriously ripped my heart out. They were really good plot twists, but I definitely didn’t like them cause they were really horrible for the characters. Shocking and Heartbreaking.

BLOOD TYPE REVIEW AND BLOOD MATCH REVIEW

NOPE. genre: A genre you will never read. Nonfiction, Self-Help, and anything religious or spiritual. I read for fun and to de-stress.

NOPE. book format: A book format you hate and avoid buying until it comes out in a different edition. Uhmm I prefer physical copies whether it’s hardcover or paperbacks. I don’t mind ebooks, but I definitely try not to buy them unless I really have to.

NOPE. trope: A trope that makes you go NOPE.

Damsel in Distress who needs saving all the time. I’m just so tired of them… I won’t necessarily avoid books with them in it, because the story could be really amazing, but it’s not my favorite… at all.

I also don’t like Love Triangles that much just cause I can never be sure how I’d feel about them. Sometimes, they work and I find closure for both love interests, but most of the time I’m either choosing one or I can’t make up my mind.

NOPE. recommendation: A book recommendation that is constantly pushed at you, that you simply refuse to read. It’s not that I refuse to read it, but I just haven’t been in the mood and kind of lost interest. I’ve gotten a few people tell me it’s really good and since I love romance they say I’d enjoy this… and I do have the book, but just don’t want to read it.

NOPE. cliché: A cliché or writing pet peeve that always makes you roll your eyes. I’m probably having brain fart right now cause I’m sure there are more, but I can only think of these two – overly mean girls that all the guys love or smart nerdy girls falling over the popular jock guy who doesn’t even notice her.

NOPE. love interest: A love interest that’s not worthy of being one. The “Darcy” in Bookish Boyfriends by Tiffany Schmidt. Honestly, he just didn’t work for me. There were some cute moments here and there and he said some swoony things, but at the end of the day, he just didn’t win my heart. REVIEW

bookishboyfriends

NOPE. book: A book that shouldn’t have existed. I’m definitely being too judgmental here because I’ve never read this and maybe it’s really good.. IDK. BUT SERIOUSLY… If you’ve read it, let me know if it’s good or not cause there’s also a sequel.

rebels

NOPE. villain: A villain you would hate to cross. Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles.

cinder

NOPE. death: A character death that still haunts you. Sorry if I spoil this for anyone, but how can I really answer this question if I didn’t reveal the character’s name… There’s just no way, so stop now if you don’t want any spoilers to Marie Lu’s The Young Elites series.

Cause I’ll always be really sad about

Adelina’s death. The ending was bittersweet and actually quite perfect for the series… but I just wish she didn’t have to die.

midnightstar

NOPE. author: An author you had a bad experience reading and have decided to quit. Do I have to answer this?!?! I feel like one bad experience shouldn’t mean the end of everything. I don’t think I purposely choose to quit reading books by a specific author, but it just happens because I’m more interested in other books. BUT… if I have to pick, it would be these two. Just didn’t really enjoy the writing.
