In the midst of supernatural chaos, worlds and hearts collide.

Celia: Having never known my parents, I’ve always felt like an orphan. All I want is a normal life. But after I’m attacked in my bedroom by one vampire—and rescued by another—it’s about time to give up on “normal” once and for all. Idris, the second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan, has come to my aid, but his motives for saving me are unclear. And what surprises me most is my attraction to his heated gaze. . . .

Idris: Terror. Curiosity. Arousal. These are the natural impulses of a human female, not the spawn of the ruthless Valarian king. Is it possible that Celia is unaware of her bloodline—and the power coursing through her veins? As the daughter of my archenemy, she was supposed to be my ransom. But how quickly the heat of desire changes everything. Now the family Celia has always craved is trying to kill her, and it’s up to me to save her again—when all I really want to do is make her mine.

A Deliciously Fast-Paced and Thrilling Paranormal Romance

reviewthoughts

I started Blood Veil by Megan Erickson back in April and was instantly glued to the pages. I absolutely wanted to devour this in one sitting, but I had other things to deal with so I had to set this aside for a while. When I finally got into reading it again yesterday, I could not stop. I was utterly addicted and had the best time!

Blood Veil by is a fast-paced and thrilling paranormal vampire romance that completely consumed me. Since I didn’t read the first book, there were information I knew I was missing, but never felt lost or confused. The world building was deliciously chilling and undeniably fascinating, so I cannot wait to read more and bite into Blood Guard really soon… I really want to know Athan and Tendra’s story — they just seem so darn cute together. The plot, while a bit off, rushed and even forced at times, was action packed, exciting, and with the unknown dangers and unexpected twists, there wasn’t a single dull moment. There were plenty of edge of your seat action scenes, heartfelt moments, and spine tingling swoons.

Idris positively charmed his way into my heart. He was broody, reckless, and complicated, but he was also very loyal, sweet and protective. He’s definitely my kind of book boyfriend hero. Celia didn’t win me over right away. I just found her annoyingly weepy in the beginning and that made it a little challenging for me to connect with her. That being said, I didn’t completely dislike Celia. I admired that she was smart, hard-working, selfless, caring and at times even brave. By the end of the story, I actually warmed up to her and I’m so glad she turned out to be a strong heroine.

So there was insta-love and while some parts were steamy and swoony, I wasn’t really crazy about it. I really wanted that angst and push and pull… To feel that inner emotional struggle, the intense longing and the FEELS. Sadly, I just didn’t get much of that. I read how they felt and there’s no denying that they were irresistibly attracted to each other, but I just didn’t FEEL IT as much as I wanted. Having said that, I still liked the romance and it was still fun. I thought Idris and Celia were adorable together and there were some wickedly sexy scenes between them.

Overall, Blood Veil was a light, fun and easy read. Although some parts felt weird and a bit off, I still really enjoyed the storyline and rooted for the characters to have their happy endings. This book didn’t blow my mind away, but I had an incredibly great time exploring this dark and exciting supernatural world filled with danger, warring vampire clans, and mysteries. It kept me positively entertained, on edge, and completely hooked. If there’s ever going to be a Book #3, I’d definitely sign up in a heartbeat.

4.25 – Delightfully Cute and Fun Romance with a Royally Adorable Twist!

reviewthoughts

This book was a quick, lovely, and entertaining friends to lovers story with plenty of sweet, heartwarming and laugh out loud moments. It was enjoyable from beginning to end and I cannot wait to read the other books in the series.

Just One of the Royals by Leah and Kate Rooper is pretty much Princess Diaries, but instead of an awkward and shy teenage girl turned princess, we have an adorable and charming star hockey player who’s secretly a prince, but wants nothing to do with being a royal…let alone be the king of Eldonia. Daniel just wants to be a normal teenager and maybe finally find the courage to tell his best friend, Madison, that he wants more than just friendship. But, when his half-sister, Eva, comes to Chicago to convince him to claim his birthright as king, Daniel must make some tough decisions that will change his life forever.

I read this book in less than 24 hours and was pleasantly entertained the entire time. I love friends-to-lovers stories and the prince/royalty trope made the plot even more interesting for me. The writing was easy to read and engaging. The characters were quirky and really intruiging. I thought the friendships and familial relationships were endearing. Madison and Alice were definitely friendship goals and I loved how they were always there for each other. I also loved the bond between Daniel and Eva. Even if they were millions miles apart, they were still very close and would do anything to make each other happy. The guys on the hockey team were pretty great too and I loved their team spirit. I wasn’t too keen on the romance and didn’t totally swoon over Daniel and Madison, but the romance was still cute and sweet. I thought the ending was heartwarming and the sneak peek for this next book definitely got me excited.

With a fun and lighthearted storyline, amazing relationships, great team spirit, charming characters, and cute romance, Just One of the Royals will have you smiling the entire time. It’s sweet, funny, and will teach you a thing or two about honesty and doing what truly makes you happy.

If you enjoy romance and friends to lovers trope, then this cute contemporary with a royally adorable twist might just be the perfect read for you!
