This player’s got a lot to learn if he wants to score . . . with the boss’s daughter.

Stone:

Football is more than a game to me. It’s my calling. Becoming the Dallas Wranglers’ starting quarterback before I retire is a dream come true, but with a few wins under my belt, suddenly everyone wants a piece of me. And even though being in the spotlight has its perks—beautiful women, star treatment, more beautiful women—what really gets me sweating is the watchful gaze of my sexy-as-hell PR coach, Savannah Andrews. The catch? Her father is kind of my boss. . . .

Savannah: In my family, football is big business. When your dad owns an NFL franchise, you learn a thing or two about schmoozing, and from what I can tell, it’s not a skill in Jason Stone’s playbook. Sure, the veteran quarterback is literally larger than life. With broad shoulders, muscles on muscles, and a mouth made for kissing, he may be one of the hottest men in the league—and I should know. I’ve turned down enough players to start my own all-star team. But those guys just wanted to get close to my father. Meanwhile, Stone is getting temptingly close . . . to me.

BAD REPUTATION | BAD BUSINESS

review

I don’t read very many sports romance books, but this one definitely did not let me down. Bad Business by Nicole Edwards is the second book in the Bad Boys of Sports series that can be read as a standalone. It’s fun, sexy, entertaining and swoony.

Jason Stone is the new star quarterback to the Dallas Wranglers and three time Super Bowl champion who’s planning to retire in his hometown. He’s successful, sexy, handsome and incredibly charming. He’s got an awesome career and a long list of gorgeous women who wants a piece of him. However, Jason has his eyes and heart set on the sexy bombshell PR, Savannah Andrews. Only problem – her father is his boss.

Savannah Andrews is the daughter of the Wranglers owner and has learned a thing or two about the dangers of falling for football players. She knows they’re nothing but trouble.. yet she can’t resist letting Jason Stone get close to her… dangerously close.

This  book was fun to read, but after reading several chapters, I actually put it aside for a while. Not the author or book’s fault. Sometimes, I just get into weird moods and I just wasn’t feeling the story.  However, once I picked it up again, I was quite surprised to find myself intrigued with the story. There were a few slow parts, but overall the pacing was great. The steamy parts were spine-tingling awesome and the light drama/conflict made the book more interesting. I would have wanted some more angst or a bit of push and pull or even some action.. but overall, it was a delightful romance story.

Savannah and Jason were wonderful characters. I enjoyed them together and loved how they were strong and amazing in their own ways. Savannah was a great lead —  confident, hard-working, beautiful, and smart. Jason was pleasantly sweet and just a really great guy. I adored his relationship with his mother and thought they were just the cutest. There’s something so endearing about men who are close to their moms.

I absolutely LOVED the chemistry between Jason and Savannah. It was electrifying and wickedly HOT! Their relationship also had that forbidden love vibe which made all their interactions a bit more exciting and so fun to read.

Bad Business by Nicole Edwards is a lighthearted and playful romance story. It has charm, humor, some drama, and ridiculously steamy scenes! Definitely will be checking out the other books in the series.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest and fair review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

nicoledwardsI live in Texas with my husband and our youngest of 3 children. The two older ones have ventured out in the world on their own. I’ve got a beautiful granddaugther and a rather spoiled grand-puppy.. Oh, and Colt and I also have four dogs. Most of the time, you can find me hiding in my writing cave. If I’m not there, I’m probably hanging out with the family, reading, or watching hockey and football. One thing for sure… I’m always trying to have fun.

Hello lovely bookish friends! It’s time for another TBR Thursdays which is a weekly segment that highlights books, ebooks, and ARCs that I own and have been in my TBR forever. At the end of the year, I’ll do a recap to see how many of these books I actually read.

If you want to help me tackle my neverending TBR, share your thoughts and recommendations with me.

Catarina Agatta is a hacker. She can cripple mainframes and crash through firewalls, but that’s not what makes her special. In Cat’s world, people are implanted with technology to recode their DNA, allowing them to change their bodies in any way they want. And Cat happens to be a gene-hacking genius.

That’s no surprise, since Cat’s father is Dr. Lachlan Agatta, a legendary geneticist who may be the last hope for defeating a plague that has brought humanity to the brink of extinction. But during the outbreak, Lachlan was kidnapped by a shadowy organization called Cartaxus, leaving Cat to survive the last two years on her own.

When a Cartaxus soldier, Cole, arrives with news that her father has been killed, Cat’s instincts tell her it’s just another Cartaxus lie. But Cole also brings a message: before Lachlan died, he managed to create a vaccine, and Cole needs Cat’s help to release it and save the human race.

Now Cat must decide who she can trust: The soldier with secrets of his own? The father who made her promise to hide from Cartaxus at all costs? In a world where nature itself can be rewritten, how much can she even trust herself?

So, I actually got an ARC of this book during last year’s Yallwest. I had planned on reading it during winter, but nope — never got to it. Have any of you read this book? What did you think? The synopsis seems really interesting and fun — recoding DNA to change bodies, viruses, and saving mankind. Sounds like an awesome read right? I’m really hoping I get to this before the sequel comes out.

What are some ARCS you’ve had on your TBR forever that they’ve been released and you still haven’t read them?
