Tuscany, 1096 AD. Luca, young heir to the title of Conte de Falconi, sees demons. Since no one else can see them, Luca must keep quiet about what he sees.

When Luca is given an ancient book that holds some inscrutable power, he knows he’s been thrown into an adventure that will lead to places beyond his understanding. But with the help of Suzan, the beautiful girl he rescues from the desert, he will realise his true quest: to defeat the forces of man and demon that wish to destroy the world.

review

The Book of Whispers by Kimberley Starr had an intriguing premise, but unfortunately, I just did not find anything exciting about the story.

I tried to read this a few times, but it never did work out. At first, I thought I just wasn’t in the mood, so I set it aside. I’m a mood reader and sometimes I like to read more contemporary than fantasy or sci-fi. However, that was not the case at all with this book. While I thought the synopsis was kind of interesting, I just wasn’t a big fan of the storyline. I wasn’t captivated or into the story at all. I read up to 11% of the book and finally decided to DNF.

I really don’t like not finishing a book and I did try to give this one a chance. I thought the writing was decent and the world building was okay from what I read, but it just did not fascinate me.

This book initially drew me in with the premise, but at the end of the day, The Book of Whispers just did not hold my interest. I wasn’t excited or entertained at all, so I sadly had to DNF. (My first DNF for 2018).

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Have you read did book? If so, did you like it or not? Do you think I should try to reread it again? Let me know in the comments below.

The Liebster Award #2

 liebster award

Hi everyone! My awesome friend Michelle over at FirstBookLove nominated me a while back for the Liebster Award. She’s an amazing blogger and such a sweetheart so don’t forget to check out her beautiful blog.

RULES

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their post.
  • Answer the 11 questions they asked you.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers, with your own set of questions.
  • Tag your chosen 11 bloggers, and don’t forget to tell them as well!

Michelle’s Questions

  1. Biggest Bookish pet peeve? People who borrow books and never give them back or take long to return them and when they do, there are stains, folded pages, or the books are in really bad shape.
  2. Favourite scent? I don’t really have a particular favorite scent, but I do like light floral ones. Nothing too overpowering cause I’m very sensitive.
  3. Favourite bookish item? I love bookish totes and candles.
  4. An author whom you would buy all their books? Just to name a few — Marie Lu, Tahereh Mafi, Marissa Meyer, Colleen Hoover, Kasie West, and
  5. Favourite place to read? I read pretty much anywhere and whenever, but my favorite place will always be in the comfort of my own bed.
  6. What are your other hobbies aside from reading? Does going to Disneyland count as a hobby?!?! LOL Anyway, I like to bake whenever I get the chance and being crafty.
  7. What was the deciding factor that made you want to start book blogging? Just wanted to talk about my favorite books and meet awesome people like you!
  8. What advice would you give to aspiring book bloggers? Remember to have fun with what you’re doing, be positive, spread the love, and meet as many amazing book bloggers.
  9. Read or write? Why? I would love to write a book someday, but I’m too much of a perfectionist and can never make it past the first few pages, so definitely read. I love discovering new worlds, making friends, and having as many book boyfriends as I want.
  10. Favourite fiction world? And why? Sooo many, but it always comes down to the Harry Potter Universe.
  11. Your all time favourite fictional character? I can’t pick just one… I have so many favorites for different reasons, but some faves are Linh Cinder, Hermione Granger, Katniss Everdeen, Juliette Ferrars, and Adelina Amouteru,
