But his new abilities can get him kicked off the team; unless Alex can keep it a secret long enough to find out how the heck he got this way. Enter Dex, a diminutive classmate who can somehow jump as high as ten feet in the air. Now, Alex isn’t the only one at school with a secret. Except, the boys have caught the attention of some pretty nefarious adults, intent on making sure neither Alex nor Dex make it through the season. The only thing stranger than Alexander Graham Ptuiac, accidental quarterback, is the shocking truth about himself and his parents. When truth is stranger than fiction and adults are out to get you, there’s only one thing to do. Play ball!

Blog Tour: The Perils of Growing Up Werewolf

Hair2Tour

Hello lovelies and welcome to my stop for The Perils of Growing Up Werewolf Blog Tour. If you’re new to my blog, welcome to Sincerely Karen Jo. Today I have a very fun treat for you all! I’ll be sharing a deleted scene so let’s get to it and happy reading!!

Deleted Scene

The Strange Wandering’s of Becca Emerson

To give a little context, this was a scene I’d written when I was considering adding other character’s perspective to the story. The HAIR IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES series is all observed from Colin’s perspective. More and more, especially during book #2, I really wanted to hear from a few other characters, in particular Becca Emerson who I truly believe has potential for her own book. However, in the end I cut it because I wanted to keep the style consistent, and Colin was doing a fine job of carrying the story himself . . . but maybe, just maybe, Becca will get her own story one of these days . . .

Becca didn’t know where she was when she awoke. It looked eerily familiar, but distinctly strange all at the same time. She was still in her PJ’s just like the last few times she’d sleep walked. An early morning haze of light crept under the barn door and there was a chill in the air. Becca breathed a sigh of relief; at least it was still early morning.

If this was going to start being a common occurrence, she’d need to consider strapping herself to her bed.

How am I even getting outside?

The past three times this had happened, she’d returned to her house and found she couldn’t get in because all the doors were locked. She’d had to use an elemental spell to work the locks into submission and then tiptoe upstairs to avoid waking her mother, who slept like the dead, and her father, who she wasn’t even sure slept at all. So far so good.

It looked like she was in a barn. Her family property didn’t have a barn and she began to wander just how far away from home she was.

The sleep walking occurrences were troubling, but Mrs. Strauss had told her during one of their many training sessions that as a witch’s power grows, there are sometimes magical side effects that prove to be bothersome but are rarely harmful.

Becca stood up and brushed stray pieces of straw off her flannel pyjamas and realized for the first time that she was clutching her stuffed pink unicorn (Pepè). Rolling her eyes and feeling a flush of embarrassment at what Colin would say if he knew she slept with a stuffed animal, she tucked Pepè under one arm and made for the door. For all his social awkwardness, Colin was still a werewolf, and she could just imagine the relentless teasing that would occur if he ever discovered Becca to be anything other than the dark, brooding, teenage witch that she was.

Becca pushed on the barn door, but it was locked firmly. Her anger flared momentarily and she had to take a few deep breaths to prevent herself from casting a spell that would obliterate the door, the barn, and any other building close by. Mrs. Strauss had warned her about emotional outbursts, and the potential harm they could cause. Becca was testing off the charts when it came to her growing power and even Mrs. Strauss was surprised at how fast she was developing.

Becca let out a frustrated sigh, and went to look for an alternate way to escape the barn.
