Her first marriage was an epic failure.

Lady Avalon Warwyck never did love her husband. Arrogant, selfish, and cruel, it’s a blessing when she’s widowed and left to raise her son all by herself. Finally, Avalon can live freely and do the work she loves: helping fallen women become businesswomen. She’s lived these past ten years with no desire to remarry―that is, until Mr. Devan Farris comes to town.

Can he convince her to take another chance at happily ever after?

Devan Farris―charming vicar, reputed rake, and the brother of Avalon’s son’s guardian―is reluctantly sent to town to keep tabs on Avalon and her son. Devan wishes he didn’t have to meddle in her affairs; he’s not one to trod on a woman’s independent nature and keen sense of convictions. But she’ll have nothing to do with vicar with a wild reputation―even though he’s never given his heart and body to another. If only he could find a way to show Avalon who he really is on the inside―a good, true soul looking for its other half. But how can prove that he wants to love and care for her. . .until death do they part?

A Deliciously Swoony, Wildly Captivating, & Absolutely Heartwarming Romance

4halfhearts

Swoon! This book made my heart melt and I absolutely adore Avalon and Devan. Wild, Wild Rake by Janna MacGregor is a deliciously romantic, captivating, and heartwarming  love story.

I love reading romance books and pretty much any stories that has a bit of it, but this is my first time picking up a Regency Romance story. I have to say… the dialogue at times was a bit weird for me and a little cringy, but definitely not in a bad way. Different time period and different ways of flirting and such. Anyway, once I got hooked, which surprisingly didn’t take very long, I actually found myself swooning and really loving this. I enjoyed Janna MacGregor’s writing (my first book from her too) and was quite enthralled with the story, the romance, and the characters.

This is Book #6 in The Cavensham Heiresses Series and after finishing this, I’m definitely adding the other books on my TBR. This lovely story is about Lady Avalon Warwyck, a heartbroken and widowed mother left to raise her 10 year old son, and Devan Farris, a devilishly charming, handsome, and kind vicar who has a reputation as a rake.

Betrayed, humiliated and hurt in the past, Avalon is slow to trust and has a difficult time letting her guard down Devan is known as a wild rake, but he’s actually a gentleman with a good heart. When Devan’s brother sends him to Warwyck Hall to tutor Avalon’s son and spy on her, he unexpected begins to fall for her. Avalon doesn’t want to be hurt by another man again, but she just can’t resist Devan’s charms and kind soul. Can Devan slowly win Avalon’s heart and show her that they can have true love and a happily ever after together?

This absolutely will not be my last regency romance and I think I have a new obsession. I ended up really loving this book that I’m so excited to read more, not only from this author, but also check out other regency romance stories. I enjoyed the drama and excitement, the spine-tingling swoony romance, the loveable characters, and the beautiful story about two people finding love when they least expect it. Avalon is an amazing and likeable heroine. I admired her determination, strength, passion, and kindness. Devan is just as great and I completely adore him. He’s patient, caring, sweet, and has a heart of gold. I thoroughly enjoyed the bantering and chemistry between them and all their cute moments togehter. The plot is entertaining and fun. There’s plenty of feels and passionate scenes, lighterhearted and fun times, and wonderful moments that warm you and fill you with so much joy.

Janna MacGregor’s Wild, Wild Rake is an exciting, sexy, romantic, and captivating love story that made me smile and had me swooning and blushing at times. Her writing is engaging, the storyline is fun and heartwarming, and the characters are just delightful. Wild, Wild Rake is truly an enjoyable romance story and the ending is just lovely and perfect. Honestly cannot recommend this enough!

If you love historical romances with humor, steam, and a lot of heart, then add this book on your TBR!

I received a free copy of this book from the author and publisher for participating in a blog tour hosted by TLC Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

synopsis4

After losing her mom, Willa is grieving and having a hard time living with her dad and his new family on an island off the coast of Washington State. Her dad tries to cheer her up by taking her whale watching, something Willa’s mom used to do.

While all the passengers are on one side of the boat, Willa encounters a humpback whale on the opposite side. Willa feels so lonely that she starts to talk to the whale—and the whale talks back!

The whale, named Meg, quickly becomes a trusted friend and confidante Willa can speak to whenever she’s by the ocean.

Meg offers sound advice Willa needs about dealing with a nemesis at school and trying to figure out why her friend Marc is keeping secrets about his family life.

Before the story ends, it will take all of Willa’s courage and connections to tackle a problem that’s as big as a blue whale!

Deeply moving, Heartfelt, and Sweet in all the best ways

5hearts2

My heart feels so happy and filled with warmth and so much love! Willa and the Whale is a unique and beautiful story about grief, sadness and learning how to move on. It’s deeply moving, heartfelt, and sweet in all the best ways.

Chad Morris and Shelly Brown created an amazingly wonderful and poignant story that absolutely touched my heart. I think the authors’ writing style is captivating and had me hooked from the start. I really like how they managed to address sensitive issues in a lighthearted, but meaningful and believable way. The characters are just so delightful and loveable. Willa stole a piece of my heart and I adore her completely. I enjoyed her conversations with Meg, her sense of adventure, her love for the ocean and its creatures, and her spunk. The side characters are pretty interesting too and I didn’t really dislike anyone. The story moves along quite nicely and there’s enough intrigue, drama, and excitement that kept me turning the pages.

I honestly loved so many things about this book. I loved Meg, her humor and her stories. The friendship between Willa and Marc was so endearing and watching them both finally open up to each other was heartwarming. I also loved reading the journal entries before each chapter. I loved exploring the tide pools and learning new facts about ocean life. I loved how everyone came together to solve a problem and I absolutely loved the ENDING!! It was just perfect and my favorite pleasant surprise from this lovely tale. And while some parts of this story are indeed sad and made me tear up a few times, there’s also so much joy, wonder, hope and love.

Willa and the Whale by Chad Morris and Shelly Brown is an unforgettable and affecting story about death, sadness, friendship, family, and acceptance. It’s well-written and such an enjoyable read. But more than anything, I love that it teaches, heals, and reminds us that sometimes letting go doesn’t mean we forget. Everyone and everything that touches us will always be a part of us. And it’s okay to be sad. We all feel it, experience it, and deal with it in our own ways, and whichever way that is, it’s going to be okay.

I honestly can’t recommend this enough and I’m sure plenty of readers would love this too… not just middle grade or young adults. I think this book is perfect for all ages.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher, Shadow Mountain Publishing, in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

abouttheauthors

cmorrisandsbrownauthors

SHELLY BROWN was born in the Northwest and grew up near the ocean. It’s a part of her. She can surf and point out all sorts of sea creatures and plants (though not necessarily at the same time.) Now that she lives in the mountains, she has saved money, planned, and taken Chad and their five kids to both coasts to swim, surf, search tide pools, snorkel, and watch sea lions, seals, turtles, whales, and more. Her soul speaks ocean.

Growing up, CHAD MORRIS was fascinated by blue whales. He read books about the world’s largest creature and did grade school reports on them. He drew pictures of them and taped them to his wall (the pictures, not whales—that would be impossible). He would love to see a blue whale in real life, but he’d rather not meet a Bobbitt or zombie worm. Seriously, he’d prefer his bones not become jelly.
