First Lines Fridays

unnamed
FIRST LINES FRIDAYS IS A WEEKLY FEATURE FOR BOOK LOVERS HOSTED BY WANDERING WORDS. WHAT IF INSTEAD OF JUDGING A BOOK BY ITS COVER, ITS AUTHOR OR ITS PRESTIGE, WE JUDGED IT BY ITS OPENING LINES?
  • PICK A BOOK OFF YOUR SHELF (IT COULD BE YOUR CURRENT READ OR ON YOUR TBR) AND OPEN TO THE FIRST PAGE
  • COPY THE FIRST FEW LINES, BUT DON’T GIVE ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE BOOK AWAY JUST YET – YOU NEED TO HOOK THE READER FIRST
  • FINALLY… REVEAL THE BOOK!
COPY AND PASTE THE TEXT AND BANNER (OR MAKE YOUR OWN!) ABOVE FOR YOUR OWN FIRST LINES FRIDAYS POSTS.  MAKE SURE TO COMMENT YOUR FIRST LINES BELOW SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN CHECK THEM OUT!

Here goes!

Two Heads are bent together under the blinking strings of blue, red and green fairy lights. A red, wild-curled one, and a blonde one, towering over the red. They’r ebent over a book of ancient fairytales. Around them, bookshelves groan under the weight of thousands of dusty books, but the heads don’t pay any attention to those. They are engrossed in the one they are reading. Well, actually one of them is reading, the other is listening. One of them can’t read.

No Plain Rebel (No Ordinary Star #2)

M.C. Frank

Published July 16, 2016

In No Plain Rebel, Felix finds out the truth.
Or so he thinks. He’s trying to come to terms with that, as well as with the fact that the Clockmaster’s shack has been discovered by his fellow-soldiers, but he can’t exactly concentrate. The match girl’s fiery curls appear before his eyes every ten seconds, distracting him, and then he starts talking to her in his head.
Because she’s no longer there.
The Stadium is looming in the distance.
It’s ten heartbeats to midnight.

I’m excited to finally start No Plain Rebel today. I really enjoyed No Ordinary Star so I can’t wait to find out what happens next to Felix and Astra.  Hopefully work goes by fast so I can get home, finish chores and curl up in bed with this beauty.

Add No Plain Rebel to Goodreads

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading!

WWW Wednesdays

Hello lovelies! Time for another WWW Wednesdays which is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

Just answer these three questions:

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I just recenty finished reading Northwoods Magic (Northwoods Fairy Tales #1) by Desiree Lafawn and Boomerang Boyfriend by Chris Cannon. With work kicking my butt every which way, I kind of had a reading slump. I do think I’m slowly getting out of it after finishing Northwoods Magic, which I love by the way.

I’m currently reading Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kasell and yes I know I’ve been reading this for a while. It’s not that I don’t like it… I actually really do. But there are some books I can read while it’s a bit slow at work or during break/lunch and some books I like reading when I’m curled up in bed. This is one of those books… It’s eerie and the concept is a bit dark, but I’m absolutely fascinated. However, since I was fighting a reading slump for a few days, I just decided to take it easy, catch up on shows, and sleep. I’m actually more than halfway done and since I’m out of that horrible reading slump, I have a good feeling that I’m going to finish this tonight or tomorrow. I’m also part of the Blog Tour, so be sure to check out my review on September 26.

I have a day off tomorrow because of Rosh Hashana (I work for  Jewish Property Management Company), so I’m really hoping to get a lot of reading done and maybe take several bookstagram pictures too. Anyway, I’m planning on reading  Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken, No Plain Rebel (No Ordinary Star #2) by M.C. Frank, and Nyxia by Scott Reintgen. I’m excited to start No Plain Rebel so I’m definitely starting that today.

So what are your WWW Wednesday? Have you read any of these? Leave a comment down below.
