A Steamy, Sweet, Humorous, and Wonderfully Delicious Treat

4hearts2 (1)

This book was so much fun and I really enjoyed Cassie and Logan’s story! It was just as sexy and steamy as it was sweet, swoony and endearing.

I have this obsession with stories that take place in Scotland and have smoking hot Scottish characters. It’s actually been such a long time since I’ve read something like that, so when I saw this book on Netgalley, I just couldn’t resist. And whoa! This book was pretty much a delicious treat I never wanted to finish. The writing was witty, clever and wonderfully engaging. Although there were some parts that lagged a wee bit here and there, I thought the plot was well-developed and satisfyingly entertaining. I found myself intrigued and enamored with the setting, the characters, the friendships, and the adorable romance. I really enjoyed watching Cassie and Logan’s relationship develop and blossomed into something that meant so much to the both of them.

I adored all the characters in this book. They were charming, fun, and relatable. They’re exactly the kind of characters I’d want to be friends with and I just thought they were so wonderful. Cassie and Logan had my heart from the start. Cassie’s such an amazing heroine. I loved her determination, spunk and strength. I thought she was the perfect match for Logan who was utterly enticing, irresistible, and had a heart of gold. Cassie’s best friends were a blast and so interesting. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters and cannot wait to continue with the series.

A beautifully well-written and heartfelt romcom with characters that will steal your hearts, Getting Hot with the Scot by Melonie Johnson was a fantastic read until the last page. It was humorous, exciting, steamy, and sweet.  I also liked that in the midst of all the fun and crazy shenanigans, there was also this amazing emotional depth that made me fall deeper in love with this book and series. Johnson just made it to my new to me favorite author list and I cannot wait to be smitten with Bonnie and Theo in the next installment.

This was truly an absolute delight to read! If you love strong heroines, sexy men in kilts, amazing friendships and a realistic and heartwarming romance, then do yourself a favor and add this wonderful gem to your TBR.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts, feelings and swoons are my own.

An Interesting Redemption Romance Story

3halfhearts (1)

The Full Girlfriend Experience by Dana Ross was nothing like I expected. It was a difficult read for me, but I ended up liking the story in the end.

I’m not quite sure how to feel about this book. I haven’t read political romances before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, after reading the synopsis, I was actually looking forward for some crazy drama, intrigue, suspense, and romance. The story did have those, but I struggled with this book quite a bit. The pacing was slow in the beginning and didn’t really captivate me as much. It was at times very aggravating because I couldn’t connect with Faith and wasn’t onboard with her hurting people to get what she wanted. But, I liked that she was fierce and a fighter. She was tough, resilient and will do anything to protect her company. In the end, she redeems herself and I liked her a little bit more for that.

While this wasn’t what I thought it would be, I liked that it was an emotional and realistic read. I also liked the writing style and thought it was effortless and believable. I also enjoyed the romance part and thought it was fun. Even though Finn wasn’t close to being the swoony male lead I was expecting, he was intriguing and likable. The supporting characters were interesting enough and I liked them. I also thought the overall plot was entertaining and enjoyable and the ending was great. I really liked how the story concluded and was happy for Faith.

The Full Girlfriend Experience was a fun and interesting read that had some nice twists. Although there were a few things that bothered me, I did end up liking the story. If you are into redemption stories with intrigue and romance, the I think you’ll enjoy reading this book.

I received a reader copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

exclusiveexcerpt

There were three things I could not stand—cheap shoes, bad wine, and the man seated across the table from me.

William Drummond was staring at me like a halfstarved animal. Maybe his greedy gaze was due to my dress’s plunging neckline, but the man obviously had other things on his mind—complications that involved me. And like the pan-fried calamari appetizer slowly digesting in my belly, sharing company with the man who almost killed one of my girls did not sit well. Nonetheless, I had problems. I had to at least hear him out.

I lifted my empty champagne flute and motioned for a refill. Drummond obliged.

The bubbly was good and dry, one that cost a pretty penny, which the sockmuppet would probably write off and charge taxpayers. It was tempting to slug my drink down and ask for a third glass, but I refrained since I was dealing with someone less trustworthy than my drycleaners.
