No one should ever go into the woods alone.
Brielle has grown up listening to tales of a beast that attacks humans, leaving behind only a scattering of bones and limbs. It’s probably the elders’ way of keeping little children in line, but it doesn’t explain her grisly premonitions of blood, claws, and severed heads.
But when Brielle finds a mangled body in the woods, she begins to wonder if the grim stories may actually be true. Soon, Lord Kenrick, Knight of the Crowhurst Order, arrives asking questions about the legendary monster. Brielle’s attraction to him is immediate and undeniable. She volunteers to help him search for clues to the creature’s existence, despite her suspicions about his timing.
As her seventeenth birthday approaches, Brielle’s nightmares worsen and more villagers go missing. If Brielle doesn’t figure out the connection between Kenrick, the beast, and her visions, more people will die. As Brielle falls deeper in love with Kenrick and deeper into the snares of the abominable beast, she’ll become part of a legend so great, no one will ever question its validity again.

Waiting on Wednesday – Fawkes

waitingonwednesdaynew

Hi lovelies!! I hope you’re having a fantastic week so far. As for me, well nothing really new. Been reading a lot and trying to catch up on my Goodreads Challenge and knock off as many books on my Netgalley TBR. I’ve also been slowly trying to get back into my normal blogging schedule. It’s been tough with work, the new puppy, and just adulting and life in general. I’ve also been doing travel research cause I’ll be going on vacation next year to the Philippines and Hong Kong Disneyland with my boyfriend. I know it’s still months away, but I like being prepared and planning.

Anyway, I’ll talk more about that later on or something but for now, let’s get to today’s Waiting on Wednesday, which is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. A similar meme, Can’t-Wait Wednesday, is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings. If you’d like to participate in either one, don’t forget to link back to these lovely ladies and add your links in their posts.

My pick for this week’s “can’t wait to read” is

Thomas Fawkes is turning to stone, and the only cure to the Stone Plague is to join his father’s plot to assassinate the king of England.
Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.
But what if death finds him first?
Keepers think the Igniters caused the plague. Igniters think the Keepers did it. But all Thomas knows is that the Stone Plague infecting his eye is spreading. And if he doesn’t do something soon, he’ll be a lifeless statue. So when his Keeper father, Guy Fawkes, invites him to join the Gunpowder Plot—claiming it will put an end to the plague—Thomas is in.
The plan: use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Igniter King.
The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.
No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back.

In case you didn’t know, my mom had a 60th Masquerade Ball Birthday Party a few months ago so when I saw this cover, I was obviously very intrigued. I don’t read too many historical fiction books, but this sounds really exciting and a lot of fun. I love forbidden romances, drama, mystery, and intrigue… This book seems to have it all and I can’t wait for it to come out!

What are your thoughts on this book? Would you read it? What’s on your Waiting on Wednesday pick today? Leave your links on the comments below so I can check out your post and find more books to add on my TBR!

Thanks for stopping by and reading. Have a wonderful day loves!
