Warcross

Marie Lu

  • Signed Hardcover of Warcross by Marie Lu and a matching pin
  • Exclusive Book Queen Key Chain
  • Hogwarts House Crest Coasters (OMG IT’S SO GORGEOUS!)
  • Sticker in honor of Banned Books Week (not pictured)

Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors and Warcross has been on top of my most anticipated reads. So naturally, I preordered the book. I know with having two book subscriptions I may get a book I already have. I really don’t mind it at all. I do buy more than one copy of books every once in a while. Barnes and Noble and Target sometimes have their own special editions with different extras so I sometimes would buy those. Plus, it’s nice to have an extra copy anyway. One mainly for reading and for lending and the other just for my collection. Soo yes, I love having two copies of Warcross. The Hogwarts coasters are just sooo pretty!!! I probably won’t ever use them except for props in photos. Oh and the keychain is really nice too and I can’t wait to use it.

In case you didn’t know, Uppercasebox has a Loyalty Points Program which can be redeemed for more bookish items, free shipping or a free month of Uppercasebox. So basically you get rewarded with more awesomeness!!!

Book Feature

Happy Friday Eve Lovelies! Guess what?!?! I’m feeling so much better today woohoo! Just coughing a little here and there, but I think I should be 100% by this weekend! I’ve fallen behind on all my reading and feel really bad for not meeting certain deadlines, but I’m going to try my best to catch up. Anyway, today I’m doing a book feature for a unique thriller that I think would be the perfect read during Fall / Halloween. I haven’t read this book yet, but it’s definitely on my TBR, so read on to check it out.

35174445In this first volume of the suspense series (for ages 16+), a young educated Chicago woman, Kelly Donovan, must escape from her luxurious home to get away from her sociopath boyfriend, Mark Flannery, before he takes her to a woodsy cabin for a little “anniversary get-way.” She must plot, lie, and pretend to be happy before she can flee her relationship and her own home, alive. Unforeseen obstacles frustrate her efforts to get away, and Kelly’s family and friends, strangers to one other, must perfectly work together to help her live a life free from threat. The diverse group includes an insecure drama teacher, a brilliant pharmaceutical engineer, and an international businesswoman with a secret that comes in very handy at one critical point.
This story is uniquely narrated by inanimate household teddy bears, which, notwithstanding their immobility, have interesting thoughts and perspectives on the shocking events and intriguing relationships which form before their plastic eyes. These plush bears also get a healthy dose of an entertaining blooming romance when Kelly’s plight takes everyone overseas to Paris. While in France, more scheming, racing to stay steps ahead of Mark, and even physical violence ensue – violence which does not always involve a damsel in distress. To complicate matters further, some of the characters are not necessarily what, or who, they seem. Once the plot’s feverish pace decelerates, the group starts to feel some hope, but is the race really over? The genre-mixing mind-bending narration style makes this novel a sensational ride. Enjoy!
