First Lines Fridays

unnamed
FIRST LINES FRIDAYS IS A WEEKLY FEATURE FOR BOOK LOVERS HOSTED BY WANDERING WORDS. WHAT IF INSTEAD OF JUDGING A BOOK BY ITS COVER, ITS AUTHOR OR ITS PRESTIGE, WE JUDGED IT BY ITS OPENING LINES?
  • PICK A BOOK OFF YOUR SHELF (IT COULD BE YOUR CURRENT READ OR ON YOUR TBR) AND OPEN TO THE FIRST PAGE
  • COPY THE FIRST FEW LINES, BUT DON’T GIVE ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE BOOK AWAY JUST YET – YOU NEED TO HOOK THE READER FIRST
  • FINALLY… REVEAL THE BOOK!
COPY AND PASTE THE TEXT AND BANNER (OR MAKE YOUR OWN!) ABOVE FOR YOUR OWN FIRST LINES FRIDAYS POSTS.  MAKE SURE TO COMMENT YOUR FIRST LINES BELOW SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN CHECK THEM OUT!

Here goes!

Two Heads are bent together under the blinking strings of blue, red and green fairy lights. A red, wild-curled one, and a blonde one, towering over the red. They’r ebent over a book of ancient fairytales. Around them, bookshelves groan under the weight of thousands of dusty books, but the heads don’t pay any attention to those. They are engrossed in the one they are reading. Well, actually one of them is reading, the other is listening. One of them can’t read.

No Plain Rebel (No Ordinary Star #2)

M.C. Frank

Published July 16, 2016

In No Plain Rebel, Felix finds out the truth.
Or so he thinks. He’s trying to come to terms with that, as well as with the fact that the Clockmaster’s shack has been discovered by his fellow-soldiers, but he can’t exactly concentrate. The match girl’s fiery curls appear before his eyes every ten seconds, distracting him, and then he starts talking to her in his head.
Because she’s no longer there.
The Stadium is looming in the distance.
It’s ten heartbeats to midnight.

I’m excited to finally start No Plain Rebel today. I really enjoyed No Ordinary Star so I can’t wait to find out what happens next to Felix and Astra.  Hopefully work goes by fast so I can get home, finish chores and curl up in bed with this beauty.

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading!

They said she was going to be my ruin…
Then let her ruin me.

Caleb Lockhart has everything—wealth, adoration, a brilliant future. Until a chance encounter with a siren in a red dress changes everything. Until he meets the woman he dubs Red.

Veronica Strafford’s past makes it hard for her to trust anyone. Now, kicked out of her apartment, she reluctantly accepts Caleb’s offer for a place to stay.

Caleb feels intensely drawn to Veronica. And, for the first time in his life, he really wants something—someone. Too bad Veronica’s heart might just be the one thing Caleb can’t win.

Happy Thursday Lovelies! It’s been a while since I’ve done a TBR Thursdays post. I just get so busy with work that I fall behind on several of my blogging posts. I sometimes even forget to schedule my postings.

Anyway, Chasing Red by Isabelle Ronin caught my attention while I was browsing for more books to add to my TBR cause you can never have enough… even though I’m practically drowning in my mines. I read the synopsis on Goodreads and it sounded like something I would really enjoy. I read some great reviews (spoiler-free of course) and heard so many amazing things about it. Oh and that cover is absolutely gorgeous. I was super excited when I saw Chasing Red at my Costco so of course I bought it. I definitely can’t wait to curl up with it in a few weeks.
