WWW Wednesdays

Hello lovelies! Time for another WWW Wednesdays which is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

Just answer these three questions:

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I recently finished reading No Vain Loss by M.C. Frank. I LOVEEEEE this series so much! I wanted it to keep going because Felix and Astra are so adorable together. And the FEELS in this series is insanely amazing! Not to mention the writing is absolutely gorgeous and mesmerizing. I’ll be working on my review for No Plain Rebel and No Vain Loss and should be up sometime next week. I also finished reading My Sophomore Year of Rules (School Dayz #4) by Jennifer DiGiovanni. This was a really cute and swoony read. Review for that should be up sometime next week too.

I’m still reading The Wishing Heart by J.C. Welker and Odd and True by Cat Winters. I went to Disneyland over the weekend and the boyfriend and I binged some shows again, so I had limited reading time. I’m halfway done with them though, so hopefully I’ll finish them by the end of the week.

Since I’ll be leaving for New York next week on Wednesday night for a short vacation, I’m planning on reading only 1 book and that is Dirty Little Promise (Forbidden Desires #2) by Kendall Ryan. I might have time for one more book or during the plane ride, so I think I’ll go with Haven by Mary Lindsey.

So what are your WWW Wednesday? Have you read any of these? Leave a comment down below.

Sincerely Karen Jo

Okay here goes!

Once Upon A Time…

“Tell me the story again,” I urged my sister in the nighttime blackness of our attic bedroom. Odette rolled toward me on her side of the bed. The straw mattress crunched and shifted beneath her weight, and her brown eyes shone in the trace of moonlight straining through the shadows.

“Please,” I said with a hopeful squeak in my voice, which made me sound such a baby compared to her, a eight-year old girl, almost nine.

“Oh, Tru.” My sister burrowed her right cheek against her pillow. “You know the story so well.”

“Tell me again. My leg hurts, and I really, really want to hear it.”

She sighed with a force that rustled the curls peeking out from beneath my nightcap.

“Please, Od,” I begged. “Tell me about the day I was born… and Papa’s horse… and the tower.”

Odd and True

Cat Winters

Published September 12, 2017

Trudchen grew up hearing Odette’s stories of their monster-slaying mother and a magician’s curse. But now that Tru’s older, she’s starting to wonder if her older sister’s tales were just comforting lies, especially because there’s nothing fantastic about her own life—permanently disabled and in constant pain from childhood polio.

In 1909, after a two-year absence, Od reappears with a suitcase supposedly full of weapons and a promise to rescue Tru from the monsters on their way to attack her. But it’s Od who seems haunted by something. And when the sisters’ search for their mother leads them to a face-off with the Leeds Devil, a nightmarish beast that’s wreaking havoc in the Mid-Atlantic states, Tru discovers the peculiar possibility that she and her sister—despite their dark pasts and ordinary appearances—might, indeed, have magic after all.

Currently reading this right now and so far I’m liking it.  I’m not too far into it and I’m still a bit confused about where the story is going, but it is quite intriguing. It definitely has a spooky vibe and the characters for the most part are interesting. I also like the way Cat Winters switches from past to present.
