synopsis4

Violet Sterling has spent the last seven years in exile, longing to return to Burleigh House. One of the six great houses of England, Burleigh’s magic always kept the countryside well. And as a child, this magic kept Violet happy, draping her in flowers while she slept, fashioning secret hiding places for her, and lighting fires on the coldest nights to keep her warm.

Everything shattered, though, when her father committed high treason trying to free Burleigh from the king’s oppressive control. He was killed, and Vi was forced into hiding.

When she’s given a chance to go back, she discovers Burleigh has run wild with grief. Vines and briars are crumbling the walls. Magic that once enriched the surrounding countryside has turned dark and deadly, twisting lush blooms into thorns, poisoning livestock and destroying crops. Burleigh’s very soul is crying out in pain.

Vi would do anything to help, and soon she finds herself walking the same deadly path as her father all those years before. Vi must decide how far she’s willing to go to save her house—before her house destroys everything she’s ever known.

mythoughts

A beautifully haunting, magical, and enchantingly unique tale

4halfhearts

Enchanting, magical and absolutely unique, A Treason of Thorns by is a beautifully haunting tale that kept me engrossed until the end.

Filled with magic, mystery, secrets, and emotions, this story is satisfyingly engaging, fascinating, and delightful in all the way that matters. There are so many things that I enjoyed about this book and I could rave about them all, but this is definitely one of those stories that you have to experience to understand just how amazing it is. The storyline is incredibly unique and intriguing and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything quite like this gem before. The relationship between the caretaker and the house and the magic involved is incredibly intriguing to read about. I enjoyed the lovely writing, the mesmeric world-building, the awesome magic system, the fabulous characters, and the romance. I think Weymouth paces the plot really well, weaves relevant themes, and concludes her one of a kind tale fantastically. I was enthralled by everything and I can’t wait for you to be too.

I adored Violet with all my heart and the supporting cast is quite wonderful too. Violet Sterling is a strong and fantastic heroine. I loved her determination and admired everything she was willing to do for her Burleigh. I enjoyed her character development and defintiely rooted for her the entire time. I  really wanted her to succeed and choose to do what truly makes her happy. Wyn is a great character and I liked seeing him with Violet. I liked Jed and Mira and the other minor characters definitely had their own intrigue to keep the story interesting.

Romance is my ultimate weakness and I love to read stories with all kinds of romance that I rarely pick up a book without it. However, I didn’t feel too crazy about it in this book. I do like the romance well enough and there are some sweet moments. It’s just the romance wasn’t really getting to me… it’s slow burn for sure and I like slow burn romances… but honestly, I think I was just more interested on the magical aspects of the story, which I love, Violet’s character arc and struggles, and of course Burleigh that the love story/romance didn’t really matter that much to me. So, it’s nice that there’s a little romance and I liked and enjoyed it for being there, but I personally just wasn’t super into it.

An enthralling, imaginative and heartwrenching tale, A Treason of Thorns by Laura E. Weymouth is full of magic and wonder and I cannot wait for you to get lost in it. The writing is absolutely gorgeous and alluring, the world-building is intricate, lush, and impressive, and the characters are likable and interesting. This book is engrossing, fun, emotional and will stay with you. At the heart of it all, this is a beautiful story about family, duty, loyalty, sacrifices, love and so much more.

If you’re looking for something different, wildly creative, and exciting, then add this book on your TBR and get ready to be transported into a fantastically magical world.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author and publisher for participating in a Blog Tour hosted by The Fantastic Flying Book Club in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy Wednesday lovelies!! Are you ready for Thanksgiving!?! Any special plans or just home with the family? As for me, Thanksgiving Day will be A LOT of eating. I’m also really excited to get a few days off and do some shopping.

Anyway, let’s check out what I picked for today’s  Waiting on Wednesday, which is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. A similar meme, Can’t-Wait Wednesday, is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings. If you’d like to participate in either one, don’t forget to link back to these lovely ladies and add your links in their posts.

aboutbook

Publisher: HarperTeen

Format: Paperback 320 pages

Genre(s): Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance

When seventeen-year-old Zae Monroe gets cheated on by the only guy she’s ever loved, then watches her parents’ marriage crumble, she decides to forget about relationships and turn the tables on the boys of the world. It’s time to take what she wants, and what she wants are kisses. Athletes, musicians, poets, and bad boys—their lips are all on her agenda, and it’s time to collect.

Zae proposes a contest with her friends to see who can kiss the most boys during spring break. But what starts as a harmless competition leads to a downward spiral she can’t seem to break free of. As family, academic, friend, and guy drama come to a head, Zae is forced to face the reasons behind her boy angst, and starts to wonder if she was wrong about the male race…or at least some of them.

Heartbreak, drama, and boys with A LOT of kissing sounds like the kind of fun I need. I’m also hoping for some spine tingling swoons and plenty of heart melting moments, so don’t let me down book cause I’m excited for you!!! divider4What are your thoughts on this book?
