synopsis

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

A Flawlessly Capitivating and Utterly Addictive Paranormal Romance

5hearts2

This book definitely deserves a spot on your TBR! Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout is a flawlessly captivating and thrilling paranormal romance that had me glued to the pages.

JLA’s With You NA contemporary series is one of my favorites and I can never forget how much I LOVE Cam and Avery.  Now, I haven’t read any of her paranormal books, but I’ve been very interested… so much so that I started buying books from her Lux series. I haven’t started yet cause I’m planning on binging the series when I finally have them all. When I received an invitation to be part of the review tour for Storm and Fury hosted by TLC Book Tours, I obviously had to say yes. It’s a JLA book and I love her writing so I couldn’t resist.

I wasn’t initially aware that Storm and Fury is a spinoff of The Dark Elements series. Having said that, I didn’t find myself having trouble following the storyline, but I’m sure reading the original trilogy would have made it even more fun. I’m definitely intrigued now and planning on reading them really soon. This book is just so well-written and I devoured and savored every moment.

Protected by gargoyle shapeshifters known as Wardens, Trinity Marrow is an eighteen year old girl who’s hiding her unique ability to communicate with ghosts and spirits. If demons find the truth about her secret gift, they’ll end her life to gain more power. But, when reports about both demons and Wardens being killed are revealed, Trinity must work together with an annoying, but charming Warden she can’t seem to resist. Zayne, as fascinating as he is, is also keeping secrets. Secrets that can make things complicated and even worse for Trinitiy. Can Trinity trust Zayne enough to save her family and the world?

With masterful storytelling, alluring world-building, and complex lovable characters, this book had me wonderfully excited and engrossed until the very end. It’s quite different from JLA’s NA books, but just as entertaining, emotional, and addictive that I never wanted the story to end. The world JLA has created feels a bit familiar and have similarities to other paranormal books I’ve read, but I still thought it’s deliciously imaginative and fascinating. I enjoyed reading about demons and gargoyles and just being part of that world. I thought the plot was well developed and easy to follow. It’s engaging, suspenseful, intriguing and a lot of fun. The ending had me feeling all sorts of emotions and I’m so freaking eager to see what happens next.

Trinity is a fierce, unique and strong heroine. I knew from the first few pages that I would love her and I really do. She’s feisty, curious, funny, and incredibly brave. She may be losing her eye sight, but that never stops her from doing whatever she wants to do. I really admired that quality about her.

Zayne intrigued me so much since I wasn’t familiar with his character having not read The Dark Elements series. I found him undeniably charming, mysterious, and fascinating. He’s hilarious, honest, and quite the gentleman. I definitely swooned over him and he totally has my heart now and forever!

I loved the romance and chemistry between Trinity and Zayne. I think they are so perfect for each other. I enjoyed their bantering, flirting, and all their amusing conversations. There are so many swoony scenes between them and I absolutely loved them all.

The side characters are pretty awesome too. I liked Misha and my heart definitely ached for him. I LOVE Peanut, Trin’s resident ghost friend. He’s so funny and I enjoyed his friendship with Trinity. I found every scene with them absolutely entertaining and I honestly laughed out loud a few times.

This was truly an amazing and fantastical read. It’s utterly addictive and enthralling. There’s drama, intrigue, humor, romance, action, heartbreak, and the feels are EVERYTHING! Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout is a must read for paranormal and romance fans and if you’ve read anything by JLA, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy and love this book just as much as I do. Cannot wait for more and to be reunited with Trin and Zayne! Highly recommend this book!!!

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher and TLC Book Tours in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughs and opinions are my own.

In the midst of supernatural chaos, worlds and hearts collide.

Celia: Having never known my parents, I’ve always felt like an orphan. All I want is a normal life. But after I’m attacked in my bedroom by one vampire—and rescued by another—it’s about time to give up on “normal” once and for all. Idris, the second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan, has come to my aid, but his motives for saving me are unclear. And what surprises me most is my attraction to his heated gaze. . . .

Idris: Terror. Curiosity. Arousal. These are the natural impulses of a human female, not the spawn of the ruthless Valarian king. Is it possible that Celia is unaware of her bloodline—and the power coursing through her veins? As the daughter of my archenemy, she was supposed to be my ransom. But how quickly the heat of desire changes everything. Now the family Celia has always craved is trying to kill her, and it’s up to me to save her again—when all I really want to do is make her mine.

A Deliciously Fast-Paced and Thrilling Paranormal Romance

reviewthoughts

I started Blood Veil by Megan Erickson back in April and was instantly glued to the pages. I absolutely wanted to devour this in one sitting, but I had other things to deal with so I had to set this aside for a while. When I finally got into reading it again yesterday, I could not stop. I was utterly addicted and had the best time!

Blood Veil by is a fast-paced and thrilling paranormal vampire romance that completely consumed me. Since I didn’t read the first book, there were information I knew I was missing, but never felt lost or confused. The world building was deliciously chilling and undeniably fascinating, so I cannot wait to read more and bite into Blood Guard really soon… I really want to know Athan and Tendra’s story — they just seem so darn cute together. The plot, while a bit off, rushed and even forced at times, was action packed, exciting, and with the unknown dangers and unexpected twists, there wasn’t a single dull moment. There were plenty of edge of your seat action scenes, heartfelt moments, and spine tingling swoons.

Idris positively charmed his way into my heart. He was broody, reckless, and complicated, but he was also very loyal, sweet and protective. He’s definitely my kind of book boyfriend hero. Celia didn’t win me over right away. I just found her annoyingly weepy in the beginning and that made it a little challenging for me to connect with her. That being said, I didn’t completely dislike Celia. I admired that she was smart, hard-working, selfless, caring and at times even brave. By the end of the story, I actually warmed up to her and I’m so glad she turned out to be a strong heroine.

So there was insta-love and while some parts were steamy and swoony, I wasn’t really crazy about it. I really wanted that angst and push and pull… To feel that inner emotional struggle, the intense longing and the FEELS. Sadly, I just didn’t get much of that. I read how they felt and there’s no denying that they were irresistibly attracted to each other, but I just didn’t FEEL IT as much as I wanted. Having said that, I still liked the romance and it was still fun. I thought Idris and Celia were adorable together and there were some wickedly sexy scenes between them.

Overall, Blood Veil was a light, fun and easy read. Although some parts felt weird and a bit off, I still really enjoyed the storyline and rooted for the characters to have their happy endings. This book didn’t blow my mind away, but I had an incredibly great time exploring this dark and exciting supernatural world filled with danger, warring vampire clans, and mysteries. It kept me positively entertained, on edge, and completely hooked. If there’s ever going to be a Book #3, I’d definitely sign up in a heartbeat.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher Loveswept via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
