Book Review – The End of Hatred by Rebecca Hefner

bookreviewnew

Hello lovelies and Happy Wednesday! Today, I’ll be sharing my review for The End of Hatred by Rebecca Hefner, the first book in the Etherya’s Earth Series, which is a reimagining of the age-old Vampyre/Slayer saga. The rest of the books are all published so it’s totally binge-able if that’s your kind of thing. I’d binge if I could and I want… but I have quite a long list of book reviews to do. Anyway, I think you should try to stay away from any type of distractions — go on a mini reading vacation, send the hubby out with the boys, hire a weekend baby-sitter, or even call in sick from work (guilty of doing that in the past) before binging this series cause once you start, you will get sucked in…badly.

Twilight sparked my love for reading and interest in anything paranormal/vampire related. I also think there’s something super sexy and exciting with forbidden love stories. So, when Rebecca Hefner emailed me and asked me to review The End of Hatred, I obviously said yes. The premise sounded really amazing, so I had a feeling I would really enjoy it. And, I absolutely did… more than I expected and I’m utterly and wholeheartedly in LOVE with this book/series. I have KU, so while I was reading, I downloaded the second book already. It was that GOOD!

Unfortunately, I did have to put finishing the series on hold since I had other reviews to do. BUT, I can’t lie… I’ve been constantly thinking about this book and I’m honestly beyond excited to continue.

So, let’s get to my review and hopefully by the end you’ll be tempted and intrigued enough to grab a copy for yourself.

synopsis

These are dangerous times on Etherya’s Earth…

Miranda, princess of the Slayers and heir to the throne, has hated the Vampyres for a thousand years. Since the Awakening, she has fought to protect her people choosing to be a warrior more than a royal. When a female Vampyre washes up on the shore of her compound’s riverbank, she seizes the moment to take the offensive.

Sathan, King of the Vampyres, distraught at his sister’s disappearance and captivity, agrees to travel with Miranda to resect the Blade of Pestilence, also hoping to change his people’s state of endless war. Although the woman hates him due to the constant raids on her compound for the Slayers’ life-giving blood, he can’t help but admire the stubborn and strong princess.

As their journey progresses, both begin to understand that they are aligned in their hatred of Crimeous, leader of the Deamons, as well as their hope for peace between the Slayers and Vampyres. Determined to fight their growing attraction, they forge a tentative truce. But old wounds run deep and trust is scarce. Their faith in each other must remain strong or all will be lost…

A Deliciously Enticing and Satisfyingly Addictive Paranormal Romance

5hearts2

I’m seriously so in love with this story and characters and just WOW! The End of Hatred by Rebecca Hefner is such a deliciously enticing and satisfyingly addictive paranormal romance about slayers, vampires, and demons. It absolutely captivated me from the very beginning and left me desperate for more in the end.

The Slayera Princess and the Vampyre King must learn to trust each other to fight a common enemy and restore peace between their people. As they journey to find the weapon that’ll defeat the leader of the Deamons, Crimeous, Miranda and Sathan find themselves not only on a similar path towards the same goal, but also undeniably attracted to each other. Will they be able to bring their people together to defeat Crimeous and eventually find a way to be together?

Hefner has a beautifully seductive way with words that I completely fell in love with this book. Her writing is effortlessly engaging and so utterly alluring. I was sucked in and I loved reading about all these supernatural beings and immortals. The world-building is simply outstanding and I thought the concept about Etherya’s Earth is creative, unique and undeniably intriguing. The plot is wickedly fun, dark, and mysterious. It’s fast-paced and so deliciously thrilling that I was literally holding my breath a few times. I thought the action, drama, humor, suspense, and romance were perfectly balanced creating a remarkably enjoyable reading experience. I honestly didn’t want to finish the story, but at the same time I was dying to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed the secrets, the betrayals, the angst, the heartbreak, and all the crazy twists and turns that made my heart race. The ending is heartwarming and fabulous in every way and I found myself smiling so much. There’s just so much to love about this story and I really cannot wait to see what happens next!

The characters are all really AWESOME. Miranda, the Slayera Princess, is a fantastic heroine. She’s fiercely loyal, kind, brave, and incredibly determined. She’s a bit stubborn and impulsive at times, but deep down, she has a really good heart. Miranda just wants what’s best for her people and will do anything to restore peace. The Vampyre King, Sathan, is such a lovable hero and like Miranda, he’s also looking for a way to end the ongoing war between the vampyres and slayers. I love that he’s caring, patient, honest and I fell so hard for him. Didn’t hurt that he’s ridiculously charming, sexy as hell and just so darn irresistible. AND he’s also a super sweet and loving brother. Yup, my heart melted over and over.

I love the supporting characters too. They all have a special place in my heart and there’s so much about each of them that I admire and love. But, I don’t want to spoil anything. I’ll let you have some fun getting to know their wonderful and intriguing personalities. I do want to mention that I’m most definitely looking forward to Darkrip’s book and just getting to know him more.

Absolutely love the romance. It’s dripping with yummy swoons and so much heart! Miranda and Sathan have that perfect chemistry I find absolutely irresistible. It’s hot and steamy, but also adorably sweet. It’s incredibly fun and beautifully touching watching Miranda and Sathan interact. I love their playful bantering, their sexy moments, and all their heartfelt scenes. Miranda and Sathan definitely made me smile and laugh, feel anxious and excited, and get emotional in the best way. I love these two so much and cannot get enough of them together.

With heart-pounding suspense, breathtaking adventure, intriguing drama, and thrilling action scenes, The End of Hatred by Rebecca Hefner had me gripping the edge of my seat. The world-building, the narrative, and the character developments are exquisitely and flawlessly well done. I loved the twists and turns, the conflicts and complications, the romances, the lighthearted moments sprinkled here and there, and everything else in between. This is such a wonderfully engrossing story about war, politics, family, forgiveness, redemption, friendship, and love. I will rave about this book with blood, tears, and all my heart. I honestly can’t recommend it enough and think it’s perfect for fantasy, paranormal, and romance lovers.

Sending virtual hugs to Rebecca Hefner for contacting me and sending me a paperback copy of The End of Hatred. I’m forever thankful for having the opportunity to read this book and being introduced into this enthralling world. My opinion and thoughts are my own and not affected by receiving a free copy of this book.

It’s the will to find a peaceful solution that shows one’s true strenghts.

Our future can be what we make it, if we have the courage to try.

I’ve never felt about anyone the way I feel about you. It’s frustrating and infuriating and wonderful and amazing, all at the same time. I’ve never been in love before so I pretty much suck at it.

aboutbook

Fianna’s Awakening
Ron C. Nieto
(Warriors of Myth and Legend, #1)
Publication date: November 13th 2018
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Urban Fantasy

Outcast. Betrayer. Chosen.

After five years being a Fianna, Aisling O’Malley still has to prove herself every day. The sins of the father weigh heavily on her shoulders, and no matter what she does, her fellow warriors regard her as the undeserving one. It doesn’t help that one of the four mythical treasures of Ireland has turned up under her nose, leaving her none the wiser. If by any chance the touted Spear of Lugh up for auction is indeed the legendary Spear of Victory, she needs to get her hands on it before anyone else does—and be spectacular enough about it to make the rest of the Fianna forget she almost missed the artifact in the first place.

Exile. Betrayer. Forgotten.

After spending twice as long undercover as he ever lived at home, Ronan no longer knows where he belongs to or where he’s actually exiled from. He can’t return to his people, not unless he collects the four artifacts of power the Tuatha Dé lost when they were forced to leave Ireland, and three millennia after the fact, he’s pretty sure they’re going to remain lost. Except one of those ancient treasures has landed in his lap—or could land in his lap, if he brings himself to work with the spunky young woman who wants to hire him to consult on the Spear’s authenticity.

Can two broken people learn to trust one another? And even if they can, will it be too late to save Ireland… or themselves?

mythoughtsEntertainingly Unique and Delightfully Fascinating

4hearts2 (1)

Fianna’s Awakening by Ron C. Nieto is an entertainingly unique, delighfully fascinating and wonderfully strange novel that left me wanting more.

I was incredibly intrigued when I read the synopsis and even more excited when I finally started. I just had this feeling that this novel would be an oddly fun and wonderfully strange story. And it definitely was! Even though there were some parts that were a bit confusing and quite slow in the beginning, I thought the plot was decently paced, well-developed, and easy to read. The writing style was good and the world building was just so utterly unique and magically wild that I found myself wanting to know more about the myths, legends, and everthing else about fiannas. It also didn’t hurt that there was humor sprinkled throughout the story. I actually caught myself smiling and at times even laughing quietly to myself. I truly had an awesome time reading this boook and so absolutely excited to find out what happens next to Aisling and Ronan.

Speaking of Aisling and Ronan, I thought they had such great chemistry. Even though the romance wasn’t the focus of the story, I certainly felt their spark ignite in this annoyingly and deliciously slow burn way. I kept wishing for something to happen and just when I thought just maybe this time there would be a kiss or something, poof… nada. I’d get that wonderful swoony build up feeling in my chest and then nothing really happens. So yes, the romance was defnitely annoying, but the “almost” this or that moments still totally gave me the feels.

Overall, I thought this book was well-written and a great start to a series. I liked both the main characers and thought Ronan and Aisling were wonderful, interesting, and likable. The world building is quite amazing and I can’t wait to know more about it as well as continue Ronan and Aisling’s story. With action, suspense, humor, and a bit of romance, I’m definitely coming back for more and I think you should totally add this on your TBR.

I recevied an advance reader copy of this book from the author and Xpresso book tours in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughs and opinions are my own.
