Expected publication: January 8th 2019

Publisher: Simon Pulse

Format: Hardcover 416 pages

Genre(s): Young Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal

Into every generation a Slayer is born…

Nina and her twin sister, Artemis, are far from normal. It’s hard to be when you grow up at the Watcher’s Academy, which is a bit different from your average boarding school. Here teens are trained as guides for Slayers—girls gifted with supernatural strength to fight the forces of darkness. But while Nina’s mother is a prominent member of the Watcher’s Council, Nina has never embraced the violent Watcher lifestyle. Instead she follows her instincts to heal, carving out a place for herself as the school medic.

Until the day Nina’s life changes forever.

Thanks to Buffy, the famous (and infamous) Slayer that Nina’s father died protecting, Nina is not only the newest Chosen One—she’s the last Slayer, ever. Period.

As Nina hones her skills with her Watcher-in-training, Leo, there’s plenty to keep her occupied: a monster fighting ring, a demon who eats happiness, a shadowy figure that keeps popping up in Nina’s dreams…

But it’s not until bodies start turning up that Nina’s new powers will truly be tested—because someone she loves might be next.

One thing is clear: Being Chosen is easy. Making choices is hard

SLAYER… Buffy… I really don’t need to know anymore than that!

I was a HUGE Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan back in the days. AND, the show filmed near my elementary school so the whole cast and crew parked at my school for like a week or so. I remember seeing Alyson cause she actually came by to say hello to us. The others would just roam and wave every now and then and I did get to see Sarah a few times walking the grounds, but I never really got to see anyone up close, except for Alyson. BUT, one of my friends from Day Care was able to get all their signatures for me. I do still have that piece of paper somewhere in the house… which reminds me, I should probably look for it and frame it somewhere.

Mannn… this show brings back so many good memories for me. It was the show that sparked my love for anything vampires and paranormal. Also, Buffy and Angel and Buffy and Spike completely ruined me. I love those two OTPs, but if I’m being honest, I like Buffy and Spike a little bit more. What can I say, I’m drawn to the dark side/bad boy types. And just thinking about it makes me want to binge the show all over again. Maybe one of these days. Anyway, so yeah I’m really excited about this book. divider4Are you a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Goodreads Giveaway Winner

Hi booklovers! Guess what!?!? I won not one BUT TWO BOOKS from the Goodreads Giveaway yesterday! When I opened the emails, I was quite surprised. It’s been such a long time since I’ve won anything from Goodreads and I’ve never won two books at the same time. Let alone books I actually REALLY WANT TO READ.

I join a bunch of these giveaways and choose books I think I’d like and what some of my family and friends would like… so yeah, I join quite a lot. Even if I don’t have much luck, I still do cause hey, you just never know when you’ll win. And I guess this time I was lucky so YAY ME!!

Sidenote –  I noticed that when I join the giveaway on the day it ends or one day before, I seem to have just a bit more luck — About 90% of the books I’ve won this way. Not sure if it means anything or if that’s like a little trick or whatever, but it seems to work for me.

Anyway, I thought it was kind of weird and funny that the two books I won yesterday had something to do with dating. Such a random coincidence.

synopsis

The Social Network gets a romantic twist in this fresh and engaging new read from the author of Frat Girl, Kiley Roache. Experience the whirlwind ups and downs of college life in this authentic and entertaining new novel!

When a notoriously difficult class for future entrepreneurs leads to three freshmen developing the next “it” app for dating on college campuses, all hell breaks loose…

Type A control freak Sara lives by her color-coordinated Post-it notes.

Rich boy Braden wants out from under his billionaire father’s thumb.

Scholarship student Roberto can’t afford for his grades to drop.

When the three are forced to work together in one of the university’s most difficult classes, tension rises to the breaking point…until, shockingly, the silly dating app they create proves to be the most viable project in class. Late nights of app development, interest from investors and unexpected romance are woven into a true-to-life college drama that explores what it means to really connect online and IRL.

This one sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully there isn’t a love triangle or if there is, I hope I end up liking it. Either way, I’m excited to get the ARC!

synopsis

Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome;
2) A person’s undoing;
3) Joshua Templeman.
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.

Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

I’ve been putting off reading this one, but now I guess I have no more excuse since I’m receiving a copy for FREE! I’ve heard so many great things about The Hating Game so I’m so beyond thrilled that I won. Cannot wait!!!
