synopsis

A STANDALONE second chance, enemies to lovers romance.

My dick never got me in half as much trouble as my heart…

We were high school sweethearts. I was head over heels for her and no one could tell me we weren’t going to last forever. College? Going pro? My family’s money? None of it mattered. She was all I needed.

Then she ripped my heart out. But I’m not going to let that happen again.

She’s back. Invading my life and acting like she was the wronged one. The pain is still there, but I can’t keep my eyes off her. I can’t stop thinking about her and how much was left unsaid between us. Being this close is making me question everything I thought I knew about her.

This time everything will be on my terms. Everything…

mythoughts

A wonderful and emotionally affecting second chance romance

5hearts2

Where do I even begin? My heart still hasn’t stopped aching after going through one heck of a crazy, beautiful and wonderfully emotional ride. I’m breathless, tear-stained, and extremely drained, but also happily filled with all the FEELS… And you and I both know there’s nothing better than well-written romance stories that makes me feel EVERYTHING!

When I got the email from Maya Hughes about reading Ruthless King, I almost declined. I wasn’t able to read Reckless King and I don’t really like reading series out of order even if they can be read as standalones. But, I remember how much I enjoyed the prequel and Shameless King and I was really intrigued with whatever was going on with Emmett and Avery that I just had to make an exception. Good thing I did because WOW… this book exceeded all my expectations.

Maya really knows how to reel you in and get you hooked! I’m completely addicted to this series and loved so many things about Ruthless King. The writing was easy to read and incredibly affecting, the pacing was great, and the plot had me glued to the pages the entire time. I enjoyed the tension, the drama, the humor, the romance, the friendships, the sweet and sexy moments and the heart-wrenching scenes that had me in tears. The characters were all really charming, likable and intriguing and I really do like them all. Everything about this book was just so fun and entertaining and all those FEELS were just the best.

I admired Avery and thought she was a strong female lead. She made so many difficult decisions that broke her heart, but she persevered. She made mistakes, but she kept moving forward. She was caring, determined, selfless, protective and fiercely loyal to her family. She had such a good heart and I really loved that about her. On the other hand, I wasn’t that crazy about Emmett. He annoyed and frustrated me to the point that there were times I didn’t like him at all. That being said, I did understand why he behaved the way he did. Emmett may be professionally successful, incredibly wealthy, and irresistibly handsome, but having neglectful parents made him vulnerable and insecured. Then that “thing” with Avery happened and he became this angry person. He was hurting, impulsive, and acted on his emotions a lot, but he’s also the type of person who cared and loved so deeply. So yes… Avery and Emmett were both flawed and broken in their own ways, but they had so much love to give. I really enjoyed their story… even with all the bumps and twists and aches. They simply belonged together and their HEA was just the sweetest!

Maya Hughes completely won me over with her amazing writing style and the way she made me feel and care about the story and characters. This book ruthlessly had me in tears so many times, but it was also achingly beautiful. Ruthless King had it all – charming and lovable characters, endearing friendships, and delicious swoons. It was hilarious, entertaining, and romantic. I loved every minute I spent with Emmett and Avery and the rest of the gang and cannot wait for more. To say that I’m excited for some forbidden romance in Fearless King is an understatement. I have a feeling Ford and Olivia’s story will be quite juicy!

Ruthless King is a wonderful and emotionally affecting second chance romance that will break your heart over and over only to piece it back and fill it with so much hope, forgiveness, and love. I honestly cannot recommend this book enough and I hope you get to meet the Avery and Emmett.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thought, opinions, tears, and swoons are my own.

Read at your own risk. Might have spoilers.

Money and privilege bought a lot of things, but they didn’t buy someone who loved you for you without a shadow of a doubt.

You’re the constant in my life, in my heart, my everything. I need you, Avery. I love you. I have never stopped and will never stop loving you as long as I’m still breathing.

I’m not asking you tonight, but I need you to know I will ask you. Now isn’t the right time. There are too many things we both need to fix, but this ring in here is yours. It’s always been yours, and it always will be yours.

There were no secrets between us. He knew every ugly, raw thing I’d endured, and he hadn’t sprinted in the opposite direction. It had only taken almost losing him again to see that I’d rather he saw all the imperfections than be without him.

Declan and Mak have been at each other’s throats since sophomore year and now it’s time for the party to end all parties for the seniors of Rittenhouse Prep.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Long live the Kings…

I read this before starting book 1 and I think it’s a really great introduction. The writing was fast-paced, the characters were very intriguing, and the set-up for the series seems very promising.

Declan McAvoy. Voted Biggest Flirt. Highest goal scorer in Kings of Rittenhouse Prep history.
Everyone’s impressed, well except one person…

After a blow out in high school, Makenna Halstead and I were happy to never have to cross paths again. Except life has a way of knocking you straight in the teeth with a puck when you least expect it. She hasn’t just returned to my life, she crashed into it like a wrecking ball…into my college kingdom, into my class, and smack dab into the seat next to mine. My new lab partner to be exact.

For years we hated each other… I may be King on the ice, but she is the Ice Queen. She has no problem calling me out, doesn’t back down, and her piercing blue eyes have me picturing more than than just my arms wrapped around her.

Now we’re stuck with each other and there’s no getting around that fact that we have to work together. My hockey career hangs in the balance. Problem? Oh, yeah.

I can’t deny it. I want her. More than I ever thought I could want a woman. I’ve got one semester–only four months–to convince her everything she thought about me was wrong.

Will my queen let me prove to her I’m the King she can’t live without?

Only one way to find out…

A must read guilty pleasure romance with plenty of humor, heart, and swoons.

Cue the giggles, laughs, spinetingling shivers, and waterworks! This book had it all and was such a deliciously swoony and charmingly entertaining read. I LOOOVEEEE enemies to lovers stories and this one definitely hit the spot. It was fun, steamy, angsty, and adorably romantic. I absolutely loved the tension, drama, all the lighthearted sweet moments and even the parts that had me desperately holding back tears.

An irresistibly steamy college sports romance.

Heath Taylor. Laid back. Easy going. Fastest guy on two skates and chill to a fault, at least that’s what they say. Until Kara.

Three nights together and I’m done for. Her laugh, her smile, the way my hand curves around her waist. She’s the one. Not a doubt in my mind…until I walk into my last class of the semester.

Kara, the woman of my dreams, is my new instructor. My hockey season and her career prospects are on the line. One false move–if anyone finds out–we’re both sunk.

On the ice I’m a beast that can’t be stopped, but thoughts of her are throwing me off my game. My fingers itch to feel her in my arms again. But risking everything could ruin what we’ve worked so hard for.

Life has a way of changing the best laid plans. And sometimes you can’t stay away no matter the promises you make…

mythoughtsDeliciously Fun, Charmingly Entertaining and Wonderfully Addictive

This book was such a charmingly entertaining read! Lighthearted and fluffy, Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith had plenty of giggles, swoons, butterflies, fun drama and all the warm fuzzies that kept me flipping through the pages.

I love heartwarming YA rom-coms and this one most definitely did not disappoint. The writing was crisp and easy to read. The plot was incredibly fun, amusing, and engaging. Although a few things were quite predictable, there were some fun twists that completely surprised me. There was never a dull moment and I always wanted to know what would happen next. The characters were realistic and likable and even if they were a bit frustrating at times, you can’t help but fall in love with them anyway. The romance was sweet and swoony. I LOVEDDDD the tension and chemistry between Logan and Mia and thought their interactions were just the cutest. This truly was an enjoyable read  and it made me feel light and just so darn happy.

Before I wrap up my review, I just want to say thanks to Tiana for giving me a new book boyfriend to swoon over. I was instantly smitten with Logan and rooted for him so hard. He’s thoughtful, honest, artistic, considerate and cute. I loved his sense of humor and his sweet sensitive side. He totally gave me the feels. Not to mention his relationship with his sister was absolutely endearing.

Deliciously fun and wonderfully addictive, Match Me If You Can was an absolute delight to read and I savored every moment until the very last page. As a debut author, Tiana Smith proved that she knows how to bring on the FEELS and she did it amazingly. She created an adorably charming, funny, and sweet story that had me glued to the pages. I’ll definitely be keeping a lookout for Smith’s future novels and cannot wait to see what she comes out with next.

If you’re looking for a fluffy feel good YA contemporary story with lovable characters and sweet romance, then this book is the perfect match for you.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts, swoons, giggles, and opinion are my own.
