Waiting on Wednesday – The Queens of Innis Lear

waitingonwednesday

Hello and a very good morning to you all! I hope you’re all having a fantastic week. It’s time again for another Waiting on Wednesday.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. A similar meme, Can’t-Wait Wednesday, is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings. If you’d like to participate in either one, don’t forget to link back to these lovely ladies and add your links in their posts.

My pick for this week’s “can’t wait to read” is

The Queens of Innis Lear

Tessa Gratton

A kingdom at risk, a crown divided, a family drenched in blood.

The erratic decisions of a prophecy-obsessed king have drained Innis Lear of its wild magic, leaving behind a trail of barren crops and despondent subjects. Enemy nations circle the once-bountiful isle, sensing its growing vulnerability, hungry to control the ideal port for all trade routes.

The king’s three daughters—battle-hungry Gaela, master manipulator Reagan, and restrained, starblessed Elia—know the realm’s only chance of resurrection is to crown a new sovereign, proving a strong hand can resurrect magic and defend itself. But their father will not choose an heir until the longest night of the year, when prophecies align and a poison ritual can be enacted.

Refusing to leave their future in the hands of blind faith, the daughters of Innis Lear prepare for war—but regardless of who wins the crown, the shores of Innis will weep the blood of a house divided.

I’ve missed reading fantasy and retellings. Lately, I’ve just been in the mood to read contemporary and romances, but I’m hoping I’ll soon get in the mood for Sci-fi, Fantasy, Retellings, and Adventure books.

The Queens of Innis Lear sounds incredibly fascinating and so thrilling. Just read the synopsis and tell me if you aren’t curious…That first line, A kingdom at risk, a crown divided, a family drenched in blood.” already got me! I wonder if this book is on Netgalley? Not that I need anymore books to add, but this book is seriously calling to me.

So what’s your Waiting on Wednesday pick today? Leave your links on the comments below so I can check out your post and find more books to add on my TBR!

Goodreads Monday

goodreadsmondays

Hello lovely bookish friends!! Time for another Goodreads Monday which is a weekly meme by Lauren’s Page Turners’ blog!

To participate, just choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR and show it off. For this meme, I’ll be focusing on a random book that I don’t own (hardcopy or ebooks) on my Goodreads “want-to-read” page.

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.

For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Here’s another book by K.A. Tucker that I added on my Goodreads TBR a while ago. The synopsis really sounds intriguing and I obviously had planned on reading, but still haven’t. Hopefully, I’ll get to it this year.

Have you read this book? Did you love it or hate it? Let me know in the comments!

Have a wonderful week everyone!
