Waiting on Wednesday – Ice Wolves

waitingonwednesday

Hello lovely bookish friends! Time for another Waiting on Wednesday. With all these exciting new releases, my wallet will be crying by the end of the year. I haven’t been buying books in the past few months… just hitting a few thrift stores now and then, so I’m definitely due for a few big purchases… It’s only a matter of time before I can no longer resist the temptation. My to buy list just keeps growing and growing and growing…

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. A similar meme, Can’t-Wait Wednesday, is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings. If you’d like to participate in either one, don’t forget to link back to these lovely ladies and add your links in their posts.

My pick for this week’s “can’t wait to read” is

Ice Wolves (Elementals #1)

Everyone in Vallen knows that ice wolves and scorch dragonsare sworn enemies who live deeply separate lives.

So when twelve-year-old orphan Anders takes one elemental form and his twin sister, Rayna, takes another, he wonders whether they are even related. Still, whether or not they’re family, Rayna is Anders’s only true friend. She’s nothing like the brutal, cruel dragons who claimed her as one of their own and stole her away.

In order to rescue her, Anders must enlist at the foreboding Ulfar Academy, a school for young wolves that values loyalty to the pack above all else. But for Anders, loyalty is more complicated than obedience, and friendship is the most powerful shapeshifting force of all.

Wolves and Dragons… SIGN ME UP! Magic… Hell Yasss! This middle-grade fantasy sounds incredibly fun and thrilling!!

Like the dusting of snowflakes falling around her, a sense of homecoming settled over Cait as she turned off the highway and drove into the glen. Fifteen months of exile swept away. The swelling snow-capped braes that rimmed the valley, the blue-ice sheen of the frozen lochs, the smoke curling from the handful of homes and businesses that lay along the one-lane main road passing through Balwhither village; Cait loved every inch so much it hurt. Beneath the holiday lights that were just beginning to shine in the gloaming and the last rays of winter sun that pained the clouds in scarlet, it all looked just as her heart remembered.

synopsispic

Cait Fletcher was always second-string in her father’s eyes, unable to compete with her perfect older brother. Her father’s view of Cait only deteriorated when she fell for the local “bad boy” at the age of nine, and her love for Brice MacLaren never once wavered until the day he betrayed her a few months before their wedding. But their tiny glen in the Scottish Highlands full of secrets, opinionated neighbors, wandering sheep, and countless old traditions left no place to for Cait to escape either her past or her mistakes. She moved away—until her father’s unexpected illness gave her no choice but to return for the winter holidays.

Home again, Cait still loves the village of Balwhither as much as she hates it, and she despises the fact that just the sight of Brice  has never stopped making her heart twist and her breath come faster. But when she discovers that her father has given up not only on the family-run Library and Tea Room but also on the treatment for his cancer, she must put her own emotions and fears aside. Brice claims he’s changed, and he’s certainly been good to her father since she left. Now can she trust him enough to work with him as she fights to give her father something meaningful to live for?

I’m so in love with the Celtic Legends series by Martina Boone. Lake of Destiny and Bell of Eternity are both incredibly heartwarming and so romantic. With gorgeous writing, breathtaking sceneries, loveable characters, and fascinating story lines, this series is such a wonderfully sweet romance that will fill your heart and soul with so much happy. Those first few lines already got me and I absolutely cannot wait to read this beauty.
