Top Ten Tuesday – TOP TEN SERIES I WANT TO FINISH SOMEDAY

toptentuesday

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Time for another Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and has been moved to That Artsy Reader Girl since January 16, 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s topic is Series I Don’t Plan to Finish. I don’t really have any at the moment that I completely want to abandon, so I’m going to share 10 series I’ve been meaning to finish, but haven’t yet. I probably set them aside because I wanted all the books in the series to be out, or I just wasn’t in the mood.

So without further ado, here the TOP TEN SERIES I WANT TO FINISH SOMEDAY.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series by Jenny Han – In fairness, I did finish the duology back when it was just that and I was really happy with the ending. Then came the third book. I’ve been meaning to read it, but I still can’t bring myself to do it because I l loved how it ended. It left so many possibilities for Peter and Lara Jean and I just wanted that for them. I do have friends who’ve read them and said I would love the conclusion and I haven’t really heard anything negative about it…so I’m going to push myself to reread the series before the Netflix movie of TATBILB comes out. I have more about 1 month and 1/2, so I think I can do it.

The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare – These books are just so long and sometimes I just really want to finish something. I’ve read all the way up to the 4th book and have enjoyed them all, but I can’t seem to bring myself to finish the series. There are also other books in this world and I have all those books too, but I haven’t picked up any of them. Maybe I’ll do a Cassandra Clare binge and just read all the books in this universe.

The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson – I loved The Kiss of Deception and read part of The Heart of Betrayal, but ended up putting this aside because I didn’t want to wait a whole year for the final book. I had preordered The Beauty of Darkness and when it finally arrived, I was reading other books and just couldn’t get to this. I’ve forgotten some things, so I want to do a reread of this again.

The Celtic Legends by Martina Boone – I absolutely loved Lake of Destiny and Bell of Eternity. (You can click the titles and read my review for them). They’re both really well-written, charming, fun, romantic, and had gorgeous settings. I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to read Magic of Winter, but I have it on my list this summer. The good thing about this series is you can totally read the books as standalones.

The Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard – Another series that I wanted to wait until the entire thing was completed so I can binge read. I’ve only read Red Queen and really enjoyed that one. I’ve heard some negative reviews about this series, but I’m still really interested in seeing how it all ends.

The Cage Series by Megan Shepherd – I don’t hear so much about this series, but it’s absolutely amazing. I won a twitter ARC giveaway hosted by Megan and I couldn’t have been more excited that I did because I fell in love with Cassian and Cora. I still have a pretty good memory of what happened in the first two books, but I want to reread them again before diving into The Gauntlet.

The Unearthly Series by Cynthia Hand – I read the first one a few years ago and remember really loving it. I don’t know why I didn’t continue. I guess I probably wasn’t in the mood or got busy, but it’s been on my series to finish list since then.

An Ember in the Ashes Series by Sabaa Tahir – Read and completely loved the first book. I know this series isn’t finish yet, so I’m going to keep it on my list and when all the books have been released, I’m going to binge them all. I just really hate having to wait for sequels.

Configured Series by Jenetta Penner – Another series that I was waiting for to finish so  can binge the entire thing. I did read the first book and remember being really intrigued by the storyline, the concept and the characters.

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling – I know I know… this series has been in my TBR FOREVER. I love everything Harry Potter and I loveeee the movies. I’ve read the first two books years ago when I was still in college and I absolutely loved them. I mean someday I really do want to finish this series, but I’m just more interested in reading other books at the moment.

Have you read any of this series? What are some series you don’t want to finish anymore and some that you plan of finishing someday? Which ones do you think I should bump up on my list?

As always, thanks for stopping by and reading. Don’t forget to leave the links to your TTT post if you’re participating, so I can check it out. Have a great day loves!

  1. How did I NOT know you hadn’t finished the HP series yet? Have we discussed this before?? I’ll spare you ranting because I’m certain you’ve heard it before, but in all honesty, I totally get it! There’s just so many books and so little time. I’m with you on the first three in your list and AEITA series. Those 4 are top priorities for me to get done with soon…ish…lol

I did a completely different topic this week cause I was over series posts and did color stacks for pride month. Feel free to check it out here: http://nerdnarrationblog.wordpress.com/2018/06/26/top-ten-tuesday-pride-stacks/

Hope the puppy is doing well!

    • Haha. We probably have mentioned/discussed it at one point. I read the first 2 books in HP, but it’s been so long since I’ve had the urge to pick them up. Oh but that doesn’t stop me from buying the illustrated books because they’re so pretty.

Checking out your blog post now! You’re always so creative coming up with your own spin.

Puppy is doing well. I’m still running on like 4-5 hours of sleep during the weekdays and 6-7 hours weekends. She’s too energetic for me and too smart sometimes haha. I do try to tire her out and make her run around a lot so she’ll take a nap for an hour or two and I can get some rest and read haha.

      • The illustrated copies are stunning! I don’t own them — yet — but love seeing people take pictures with their copies!

And thank you so much for your sweet compliment about my TTT twists! I always feel bad veering off, but I’m so happy people tend to respond well.

Happy to hear puppy is doing well! I don’t miss the sleep-deprived nights, but it is so worth it in the end. And girl puppy energy knows no bounds. I’ll walk, play, run, etc with the puppers and without fail we’ll come back in and she acts like I haven’t done anything with her for days. smh. Good luck to you!!

      • Thanks hun! Right now I’m at the phase where we are potty training her. Not sure if it’s just her small size, but we are having some difficulties. With all the other dogs I had before, it was fairly easy. Just a few oopsies and they they were good to go. With this puppy, she’ll pee on her pads, but refuses to poo. Then whenever she feels like it or can’t hold it, she’ll just pee wherever. I’m at work most of the day and my mom dogsits for me, so it’s been quite challenging. Any tips?

      • So I’ve only done it twice, but my vet encouraged me to use a bell and a code phrase EVERY TIME we took her out so she could associate what that sound and phrase meant. So we hang bells off a string on our door and at first when she was learning we’d hit her paw on the door when we’d go to take her out. Then we’d put her in the yard and say a phrase like “go potty” or whatever you’re wanting to say. When she did you’re supposed to like over the top cheer and celebrate her. After like 5 days of doing that my 9-week puppy knew to hit the bell when she wanted to go out to go potty. I don’t know if you’ve tried that/or if that helps, but that’s what worked for the new puppy and the other dog I trained to do it!

      • Oh wow! That sounds cool. My puppy knows how to pee on her pad and will go there on her own when she sees it and when I put her there and say “peepee” she’ll do it. The problem is… we can’t have the pad everywhere at the house and she just pees wherever when she needs to. We’re also having a hard time cause she’s teething like crazy and we crate her at night and if we are busy doing house stuff. She does bark and seems to call us when she poos haha. Thank goodness her stool is not watery ever and she usually does it on the floor and not the carpet so clean up is easy. But yeah…definitely a working progress. Anyway, I will definitely try something like what you did. Our other dogs know how to let us know in their own ways when they need to go. My first one, she passed away already, she would just lick my face. Another one would barked, and my chihuahua now would whine. LOL.I guess I just have to figure out what works for this new puppy.

Oh what did you do when your puppy would accidentally pee or poo inside the house?

    • Haha.. it’s just so difficult to catch up cause every year more and more books are being released and I just want to read them all.

Totally agree with you on the Mortal Instruments World. I like it and I enjoyed the first few books, but mannnn I feel like it’s never going to end haha.

    • Well I hope you enjoy reading them. Lake of Destiny and Bell of Eternity were such fun books. There’s a little bit of everything. Humor, romance, quirky characters, mystery, and breathtaking sceneries. =)

    • TATBILB is sooo cute and I am making it my mission this summer to reread the series and finally read the last book before the Netflix movie comes out.

HP series just seems so long for me to read right now.. haha. But someday I will binge the series =)
