Happy Friday my wonderful readers!!! I’ve had another long week, so I’m really happy it’s finally the weekend. And thank goodness I have an easy work day today since I just have to finish one thing. Hopefully I can sneak in some reading time…
But, before I get busy for a little bit, let me share my pick for today’s First Lines Fridays

Julia’s world was blue.
Blue was everything. Blue was safe. Blue was home.
How she longed to see read.
She could just glimpse it from the alley in which she crouched. The forests of the Red were ever present, cradling and encroaching on stone and blue paint. The tops of the trees danced over the stuccoed walls of the buildings that formed the Blue: the last city on earth.

Now scroll down…
Does it sound familiar? Do you have a guess?
Keep going!!!
Almost there….
Just a little more…

In the Blue, the world’s last city, all is not well.
Julia is stuck within its walls. She serves the nobility from a distance until she meets Lucas, a boy who believes in fairytales that Julia’s world can’t accommodate. The Blue is her prison, not her castle, and she’d escape into the trees if she didn’t know that contamination and death awaited humanity outside.
But not everyone in the Blue is human, and not everyone can be contained.
Beyond the city’s boundaries, in the wild forests of the Red, Cameron has precious little humanity left to lose. As he searches for a lost queen, he finds an enemy rising that he thought long dead. An enemy that the humans have forgotten how to fight.
One way or another, the walls of the Blue are coming down. The only question is what side you’ll be on when they do.

I was approached by the author to read and review this book and when I read the blurb, I was quite intrigued. It sounded thrilling, fun, and a very interesting dystopian story. I love this genre too, so of course I said yes… and I definitely made a good choice. I’m reading this right now and while I’m not too far ahead into the story just yet, I’m already liking it. A LOT! The writing is engaging and easy to read. The world building is just so enthralling and I’m loving everything so far. I also liked that the plot is well-paced and the characters are wonderfully complex. Oh and you guys… there are vampires in this book… VAMPIRES. I have such a big weakness for vampire stories cause they have always fascinated me. I’m definitely one of those girls who wishes they were real… well the irresistibly sexy, hot, and non-killing kind of course.
I know it may be too early to say since I’m not even halfway through the book, but I have a really good feeling that this is going to be a 4 – 5 hearts ♥ read for me.

Have any of you read this book? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below!
As always, thanks for stopping by and reading. I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a fabulous weekend!!!
