Reading Habits Book Tag

readinghabitstag

Hello everyone! I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Anyway, I was visiting some of my favorite blogs and saw this over at Michelle’s from Firstbooklove. I know I have other tags and blog posts to do, but this one looked easy peasy and fun.

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

In my bedroom, cozy and comfy in bed. I am working on creating a nice reading den in the garage. We are converting the garage to an entertainment space of some sort and I wanted a little reading area, so my boyfriend is going to build me bookshelves and I’m going to buy the comfiest recliner chair.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Lately, I’ve been reading mostly on my kindle or ipad, but definitely bookmarks.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

It really depends. If I’m into the story, I need to find a place where I can stop which is usually very difficult when I really want to keep going, but have to sleep or stop for some reason. If the story is just okay, I try to finish the chapter I’m on, but if I really need to stop, anywhere is fine. I usually reread a a page or two before the current one when I start again so my mind is refreshed.

Do you eat or drink whilst reading?

I can actually do both when I’m on my kindle or ipad. Mostly snacks though, but once in a while I’d have my e-reader while eating lunch or dinner. With my physical copies, I still do, but I try to be VERY VERY careful.

Multitasking: Music or TV whilst reading?

Music is fine. Sometimes I can watch TV if I’m reading romance books, but it really depends. If I do have the TV on, it’s usually a show I’ve seen before already.

One book at a time or several?

Again, it depends on my mood. I can read multiple, sometimes just one. I think the most I’ve read at one time is probably 4. Any more than that and I think my brain will overload.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Definitely everywhere and anytime I can. Use your imagination and I’d probably read there already.

Read out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

I rarely ever skip pages and that usually happens when I’m close to DNF’ing a book. I do skim once in a while when the story is dragging.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I definitely do my best to keep it like new.

Do you write in your books?

I have before for school, but now I don’t. I guess that’s why I sometimes like reading on my ipad cause I can highlight without writing on my books.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading my answers. I don’t feel like tagging anyone, but if you’re reading this, considered yourself TAGGED!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

I crank up Mumford & Sons on my iPod and pull up the Boyfriend Whisperer Enterprises files on my tablet. With Valentine’s ten days away, I need to plot out some big moves for my clients.

I start with Jolene. I watched Brendon staring at her this afternoon during the pep rally. He’s falling hard. No need to play it subtle. He likes spicy food, so Red Hots are an obvious choice, in a heart-shaped tin. What should the card say? Something super flirty. “Let’s heat it up on Valentine’s.” No … “spice it up.” I jot that down and move on to my next client.

Just as I’m picking out a sweet YouTube link I want her to send her BF-to-be, Coach Reilly pulls my earbud out and scares me half to death.

“Malloy! I’m talking to you. What are you working on?”

I slam my tablet shut. “What? Homework. Sorry. What do you need?”

She shoves my backpack to the floor and plops down beside me. “Let’s talk about tomorrow. We’re expecting scouts from all over. Rumor has it someone from U Conn might even turn up.”

She pauses as if to gauge my reaction, so I force a smile. “U Conn? Wow. That’s great.”

She leans in. “There’ll be a lot of buzz in that arena. Parents, coaches, other players. They’ll all be talking about the scouts and about you and your future. Here’s the thing: You need to ignore them.”

“Ignore them.”

“Exactly. You have one job tomorrow, and that’s to play the best game Alexis Malloy knows how to play. Run, pass, shoot, rebound. That’s it. The rest is static. Ignore the static.”

“Got it. Static.”

Coach furrows her brow. “You nervous?”

“Maybe a little.”

She pats my arm as she stands. “A little nervousness is good. You’ve got this, Malloy. You can do it.”

I smile and slump back into my seat. The fact is, I’m not at all nervous. I only said that so she wouldn’t launch into a lecture about being too cocky. She’s forever vacillating between warning me not to be too nervous and not to be too cocky, when in reality, I’m neither. The truth is, when it comes to college scouts, I just wish they’d leave me alone.
