For fans of Jenny Han and Sarah Dessen, My Lullaby of You is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance about guarded love, complicated families, and the summer that changes everything.
AMYIt’s the summer after high school. Amy can’t wait to leave her small hometown in North Carolina for the vibrant city of Chicago, where she plans to go to her dream college and hopes to build a stronger relationship with her father.
But as she deals with her mother’s resentment over her leaving and an intriguing yet provoking college student, Amy’s reminded of things she’s tried to forget and forced to face emotions she never expected.
SETHIt’s the summer before the last year of music school. Seth would rather be anywhere else than a small beach town in North Carolina, reopening wounds he thought he’d patched long ago and facing the father he hasn’t seen since his mother’s death.
While on his mission for answers, Seth is drawn to an observant and driven local he can’t seem to figure out.

A Delightfully Sweet and Heartwarming Story
My Lullaby of You by Alia Rose has the perfect blend of family drama, wit, intrigue and charm. I was unsure about how I felt in the beginning, but surprisingly, I ended up really enjoying the book and by the last few chapters, I honestly didn’t want it to be over.
This is one of those stories that slowly grows on you and gets better and better as you keep reading. I thought the writing was pretty good and I really liked the storyline. The pacing was decent and the plot was fun and engaging. The characters were all really likeable and entertaining. Of course, there were times they annoyed me a bit, but hey, they’re young adults after all and this is a story about growing-up, chasing your dreams and falling in love. I liked the drama and the plot twist was really good. I love the friendship between Amy and her friends, Sarah and Kelly and the complicated family dynamics was really interesting to read about.
The romance was slow burn, but cute. Amy and Seth were adorable together and I really liked their chemistry even though they were frustrating at times. I also enjoyed their bantering, flirting, and how they gradually fell for each other. They shared some really sweet and swoony moments too and I just think they were really great together.
The ending was good, but if I’m really being honest, I have a love/hate relationship when books or series finish open-ended leaving readers wondering about all the different possibilities. It was nice and bittersweet, but at the same time I wanted something more definite. But then again, nothing in life ever is. There will always be something unexpectedly sad and tragic, but there’ll also be plenty of happy moments and amazing twists and turns that make life worth living. This story reminded me of that and so much more.
This was a fun, light, and lovely read. My Lullaby of You gently tugged at my heartstrings and I thought it was a wonderfully written story of about self-discovery, forgiveness, grief, love and second chances. If you’re in the mood for something sweet with plenty of sunshine, sand, and swoony love songs, then I suggest you pick this book up.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher and Rock Star Book Tours in exchange for an honest and fair review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve been writing since I fell in love with reading and now the characters in my head refuse to leave me alone. My debut novel, My Lullaby of You comes out in June 2018!
When I’m not writing, I work full time as an architectural designer and enjoy drinking too much coffee, making to-do lists, and traveling.
You can find me rambling about all of the above on Instagram and Twitter.
