Top Ten Tuesday – Popular Books that Lived Up to the Hype

toptentuesday

Happy Tuesday my lovely readers! Hoping you’re all having a wonderful week so far and reading swoony, entertaining, and fun books. Anyway, it’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday, which was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and has been moved to That Artsy Reader Girl since January 16, 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday is about Popular Books that Lived Up to the Hype. I love reading popular books and have found many of them to be truly awesome and totally lived up to their hype.  I don’t think I’ve read anything yet that I disliked, so without further ado, here are some popular books/series I completely fell in love with.

Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

I was obsessed with Twilight after watching the movie and binged the entire series in a matter of days during my midterms week. It sparked my love for reading and because of that, I’ll always LOVE this series no matter what.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Series by Jenny Han

I loved this when it was a duology, and while I have yet to read the final book, I definitely think this series is one of the most adorable and cutest YA contemporary romances I’ve ever read. I related to Lara Jean a lot and all her quirks were just charming! Peter was super swoony and the FEELS were amazing.

Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi

I LOVEEEEE ME SOME WARNER TIME! I binged this series and stayed up late at night just to finish them. The FEELS in these books .. so deliciously swoony and spine-tinglingly awesome! I still have to read Restore Me, but I really don’t like waiting for sequels, so I might just wait and binge the entire thing again when all the books are out.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer

This series is absolute amazing! I actually bought the first book just because I thought it was pretty and the premise sounded really cool. I actually didn’t even read it up until Winter was about to come out. I was on reading hiatus for a year or so focusing on a small business venture, but when that slowed down and I finally decided to start Cinder, I was completely hooked! I ordered the rest of the books ASAP and binged the series.

Midnight Star (The Young Elites Series) by Marie Lu

Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors and I loved her Legend Trilogy. However, The Young Elites series was something different and darker than what I was used to reading. I didn’t think I would like it, but I ended up really loving everything about this series.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

I remember seeing this adorable book on Instagram and everyone raving about it. Lucky for me, Sandhya Menon was at Yallwest and I was able to meet her and grab an ARC of this book. Dimple and Rishi are absolutely the cutest and this book made my top ten favorite reads in 2017.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

fangirl

This book is funny, adorable, and swoony. It was a bit slow in the beginning, but I ended up really loving the story. Cather was such a likable character and I totally related with her on so many levels. Her relationship with her twin, Wren, was endearing and I lovedddd Reagan, Cather’s roommate. And Levi and Cather…super stinking cute!

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

thenotebook

I loved the movie so much I decided to read the book, and I LOVED IT. It was I think the very first book I finished in one sitting because I just could not stop. I locked myself in my room, went out to get food and water, and cried my eyes out. I’ll forever love Noah and Allie and their love story.

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass

Here’s another series where I bought the first book because it was pretty and didn’t get to read it until all the books were released. This happened the same time as Cinder and I believe I read this a month or so after I finished the Lunar Chronicles. Anyway, I’ve mentioned this before, but I love/hate this series. It infuriated me so many times, but then there’s Maxon and all the damn good FEELS. At the end of the day, I have more LOVE for these books because they made me go through so many emotions.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

hopeless

I have never heard of Colleen Hoover and when I downloaded the ebook for free years ago, I wasn’t expecting much. I actually didn’t even get to read it until one day, it was really slow at work and I had nothing else to do. This was one of the ebooks on my iphone and so I decided why not. Well, I’m COMPLETELY AND HOPELESSLY in LOVE with CoHo, this book, and Dean and Sky. When I started to research CoHo, it was then I realized how popular she is.

THAT’S ALL FOLKS!

Did any of my picks make your list? What are some of your favorite popular reads that lived up to the hype? Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to leave the link to your posts so I can check it out.

Have a wonderful day!

    • Legend made me fall in love with Marie Lu’s writing, but Young Elites was definitely better. I haven’t read her Warcross series yet. Still debating on whether or not I should read or wait to binge it.

I’m not very familiar with the books, so I voted on the one that sounded the most interesting to me =)

Loved your TTT post! Some of those books have been on my TBR forever and can’t wait to read them. I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to get to Children of Blood and Bone, but I just don’t think it’s the type of book I can read while distracted with other things. I probably need to lock myself away so I can experience and digest the story fully.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

      xoxo
