Have any of you ordered from BOOKOUTLET? Well, if you don’t know about Bookoutlet, you are totaling missing out because it has one of the best deals on books. I remember when I first found out about Bookoutlet, I was pretty addicted. I think I ordered once a month, sometimes even twice. I mean who doesn’t love bookmail and the excitement of getting new books… And even though I did notice that there was a price increase (books were way cheaper before), Bookoutlet still have really affordable prices and ridiculously awesome sales.

So, why has it been 1 year since my last order? You see, when you buy too many books, really soon you’ll end up drowning in them. I’ve also acquired SO MANY from festivals, giveaways, publishers, and authors so yup… I’m drowning in books. I had to put books in bins and when I was organizing them, I counted over 500 books and that’s not even all of it. Something had to be done, so I put myself on a VERY STRICT BOOK BUYING BAN. I also cancelled my Uppercase subscription a few months ago so aside from my Owlcrate subscription, the occasional single purchases here and there, and some good thrift finds that I just couldn’t pass up (Okay, okay… so it wasn’t really that strict of a ban), I haven’t really splurged on books this year. Well, physically anyway… cause I downloaded a crazy amount of ebooks. Just couldn’t help it…But, at least ebooks doesn’t take up any space.

That being said, during my hiatus, I was feeling a bit down and you know… I think we can all agree that book = happiness and there was a 15% off SALE. It’s been over a year since I really treated myself to a big book haul so why the heck not! I made a one-time exception and just went for it.

I ended up buying 13 hardcover books ranging from $1.19 to $5.43 and my total was $35.79 with Free Shipping. Some of these I’ve been meaning to get for a while now and the others, well… they just looked/seemed interesting or were really cheap. If I don’t end up reading any, I can always send it over to my cousin in the Philippines who loves to read.

So, let’s check out all the books I bought.  divider4

Rock Taylor always had a plan. Through football, he would rise above the life he was born into. A full ride to play for a major college team was within his reach—assuming he didn’t let anything get in his way. Be True to Me by Adele Griffin

betruetomeHow far is too far to go for love?

Jean: Could it be true? Instead of a summer playing handmaiden to Daphne, was I being delivered something entirely different—a summer in the spotlight? A summer starring Gil Burke and me?

Summer flings and sexy romances were Daphne’s territory. Not mine. I was the one you didn’t pick.

I swatted off my hope like a bumblebee, knowing it was already too late. I’d been deliriously stung.

Fritz: People always joked about summer romances because they didn’t last. Summer romances were made out of ice cream and cotton candy, intensely sweet before they melted into nothing. But I’d never thought of Gil as a summer thing.

Gil was my real love, my real first. We were outsiders together, we had each other, we didn’t care that we didn’t belong.

Positively Beautiful by Wendy Mills

positivelybeautiful16-year-old Erin is a smart if slightly dorky teenager, her life taken up with her best friend Trina, her major crush on smoky-eyed, unattainable Michael, and fending off Faith, the vision of perfection who’s somehow always had the knife in for Erin. Her dad, a pilot, died when she was very young, but Erin and her mom are just fine on their own.

Then everything changes forever one day after school when Erin’s mom announces she has breast cancer. And there’s even worse news to come. Horrified, Erin discovers that her grandmother’s death from cancer is almost certainly linked, the common denominator a rare gene mutation that makes cancer almost inevitable. And if two generations of women in the family had this mutation, what does that mean for Erin? The chances she’s inherited it are frighteningly high. Would it be better to know now and have major preemptive surgery or spend as much life as she has left in blissful ignorance?

As Erin grapples with her terrible dilemma, her life starts to spiral downwards, alleviated only by the flying lessons she starts taking with grumpy Stew and his little yellow plane, Tweetie Bird. Up in the sky, following in her dad’s footsteps, Erin finds freedom chasing the horizon. Down on the ground it’s a different story, and facing betrayal from Trina, humiliation from Faith, and a world of disappointment with Michael, Erin knows she must discover the truth about herself. Sure enough, she’s positive for the gene that’s slowly killing her mom.

Suddenly, Erin’s life has turned into a nightmare, and the only person she can truly talk to is a girl called Ashley who she meets online. But when, in a moment of madness, Erin flies away with Tweetie Pie to find her new friend, she finds herself on a journey that will take her through not only shock and despair – but ultimately to a new understanding of the true meaning of beauty, meaning, and love.
