Hello again my loves! With this Top Ten Tuesday post, I’m now finally up to date. Woohoo! This week topic for Top Ten Tuesday is Bookish Resolutions and Goals. This is actually perfect because I’ve been doing a lot of planning and scheduling.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and has been moved to That Artsy Reader Girl since January 16, 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Here are my Top Ten Bookish Resolution and Goals for 2018
Read 50 Books on my Shelves – I don’t know when was the last time I organized my bookshelves, but I now have 4 bins of books sitting in the garage. I’ve put away plenty of books I felt I’m not going to read, but still want to someday so I can make more room for new books. I know I know — that’s really not helping, but I have a difficult time parting with my books… even if they’ve been sitting on my bookshelves forever. This year, I actually want to read 50 of those books (either on my bookshelves or the ones I had to put in bins).
Read 50 E-Books – Okay aside from physical books, I actually have quite a lot of e-books. I buy some, download free ones, free ARCs, and some I get from giveaways. When I see something I think I might like, I just click click click and download. I don’t even want to say how many e-books I have — it’s ridiculously out of control and I seriously don’t know how long some of them have been there. Oh and I even purchase e-books for the ones I already own in hard copy. Sometimes, when I really love a book and can’t stop reading, I’d buy the e-book so that I can read it anytime and anywhere. This year, I want to read 50 of my e-books and delete the ones I will probably never read again.
Read 25 New Authors – I love discovering new authors. Last year, I read plenty of amazing debut authors who are now some of my favorites. Whether they’re mainstream or indie, this year I want to read 25 new authors. Hopefully, I’ll be able to add some of them to my favorites list.
Finish 10 Book Series – I love reading series and usually wait until it’s all completely written so I can binge them. I also buy plenty of book series that have been finished 2-4 years ago with every intention of spending a weekend just reading them. Obviously, I haven’t finished as many series as I wanted so this year, I want to finish 10 that’s been on my bookshelves for the past few years.
Finish my Goodreads Challenge without Changing It – I have been setting up my Goodreads challenge to 100 for the past two years. In both 2016 and 2017, I had to lower down my Goodreads Challenge sometime during the year because I knew that I would not be able to accomplish the 100 books. This year, I really want to finish without changing my original goal. I’m also challenging myself by reading 115 instead of 100. I can be a fast reader sometimes and even finish a book in a day so I’m really hoping I get to 115.
Social Media Presence – So I’m really crunched for time and when I’m busy, I’m really busy. I usually read during work breaks, after work, and in the evening so I don’t really have much time to be present on social media. This year, I want to make an effort on communicating more with bloggers, bookstagrammers, and authors. I’m quite shy, so I struggle a bit. But, once I get comfortable, I can be pretty fun and outgoing. Just takes a while for me to warm up.
Increase My Netgalley Feedback Ratio to 80% – As of right now, I’m at 49%. I still have a long way to go, but I’m confident that I’ll be able to bring it up to 80% in a few months. At least by mid 2018.
Control ARC Requests – I went pretty crazy requesting on Netgalley and joining ARC giveaways on Goodreads, Shelfawareness and few random others. Not to mention the ARCs I pick up at Yallwest. I really want to control myself and request less on Netgalley. I definitely will still be grabbing as many physical ARCs as I can during Yallwest this year, so I need a wee bit control on Netgalley.
Give Away 20 Books – As I’ve mentioned, it’s difficult for me to part with my babies and I just want to hold on to them forever. Even if I didn’t love particular books, I still want to keep them. Well, rather than be locked away in bins, this year I want to give away 20 books. I know that might not seem a lot to you, but to me that is a very big deal. I seriously would rather buy/gift someone else a new book than give away one that I already own.
Spend Less on Books – I started with this goal last year and I proud to say that I spent less on books in 2017 than 2016. I went just a tad bit crazy in 2016 — which is how I ended up with so many books on my shelves that I had to start putting some away in bins. This year, I want to spend even less on books. With the exception of my Uppercase and Owlcrate, I plan on ONLY buying books I know I will read once I buy it. If I know I won’t, then I’ll just add in on my To Buy Book List. And if I really do want a specific book, I’ll try to look for it at bargain book stores like Bookoutlet.
Well, those are my top ten bookish resolution/goals. What are some of yours? Comment down below. And as always, have a wonderful day!

These are great goals! I have a hard time parting with my books as well, which is why my shelf is overflowing at the moment! My main bookish goals are to listen to more audiobooks and read the complete Harry Potter series.

Oh I should have put listen to audio books — but I have a good feeling I won’t really do it because I’ve tried multiple times and I just can’t seem to get into audio books. And yes yes yes to completing Harry Potter Series. I’ve still only read the first book — oh but I do have the books and watch the movie whenever it’s on haha
I’m just getting into audiobooks so I really want to try out more. I’ve seen all of the Harry Potter movies and have had the books forever! I can’t wait to finally read them all! ☺
Like you, I also impulsively one click ebooks all the time! I don’t even want to count the number of unread books I have in my Kindle. But I really want to make more of an effort to read them this year. I just keep being distracted by even more new books! Regarding social media presence, when I’m busy, I’m usually a lot more active on Twitter and Instagram than here on WordPress. I love connecting with fellow book lover regardless of the platform.😊

It’s just so hard to resist not downloading ebooks. I’m most active on my Instagram, but ever since the holidays, I have been off the grid. But next week I plan on finally posting since I’ve missed connecting with book lovers. It’s just been a little difficult getting back to routine after the holidays.
Awesome goals you got this Karen!
