Good Evening loves! I’m a bit late posting my First Lines Fridays, but here I am!
FIRST LINES FRIDAYS IS A WEEKLY FEATURE FOR BOOK LOVERS HOSTED BY WANDERING WORDS. WHAT IF INSTEAD OF JUDGING A BOOK BY ITS COVER, ITS AUTHOR OR ITS PRESTIGE, WE JUDGED IT BY ITS OPENING LINES?
-
PICK A BOOK OFF YOUR SHELF (IT COULD BE YOUR CURRENT READ OR ON YOUR TBR) AND OPEN TO THE FIRST PAGE
-
COPY THE FIRST FEW LINES, BUT DON’T GIVE ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE BOOK AWAY JUST YET – YOU NEED TO HOOK THE READER FIRST

FINALLY… REVEAL THE BOOK!
COPY AND PASTE THE TEXT AND BANNER (OR MAKE YOUR OWN!) ABOVE FOR YOUR OWN FIRST LINES FRIDAYS POSTS. MAKE SURE TO COMMENT YOUR FIRST LINES BELOW SO THAT OTHER PEOPLE CAN CHECK THEM OUT!
“Destiny is a total crock!”
My best friend, Morgan, is prone to these larger than life statements. Strange, perhaps, considering how tiny she is. But Morgan has never let being slightly less than five feet tall and a hundred pounds stop her from getting her point across. Even now, she bangs her dainty fist on the wooden railing with enough force to make the ice cubes rattle around my paper cup.
Now scroll down…
Not quite yet, so keep going…
Almost there….
Just a little more…
The Key to Everything
Paula Stokes
Published January 4, 2018 Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
College senior Oakland Fuller has always believed in signs and soulmates, so when both a therapist and a fortuneteller say that her repeated relationship failures are due to unresolved feelings for her high school boyfriend, Seth, Oakland tries desperately to get back in touch with him. Problem: Seth isn’t responding to her online messages.
To rescue Oakland from a pathetic Christmas break of sitting in front of the computer, her best friend Morgan books the two of them on a guided excursion of Thailand. When the girls meet a pair of American soldiers in Bangkok, Oakland takes Morgan’s advice and engages in a little harmless holiday hooking up. Sergeant Tyson Banks is the perfect mix of sexy and fun. Two weeks with him might just turn out to be the best relationship Oakland has ever had.
Until the day she spots someone familiar across a crowded temple complex—it’s Seth! Somehow the boy she’s been trying to reconnect with is in Bangkok too. If that’s not a sign, then what is?
Filed with friendship, romance, and gorgeous faraway settings,The Key to Everything is a book for anyone who’s ever dreamed of finding love when (or where) they least expected it.
I’ve loved everything I’ve read from Paula Stokes. Her writing is evocative and beautiful, so when she posted on her Instagram that she would be sending out ARCs for this book, I immediately emailed her. I was planning on reading this around late November/ December, but so many things happened that I didn’t get to it before the release. Well, I bought a copy and I’m finally reading it now. So far, I’m absolutely enjoying the story and can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.
Have you read this book yet? What did you think? Leave your comments down below. I’d love to hear from you!
As always, thank you for stopping by and reading. Hope you have a funtastic weekend!
Those first lines had me hooked! I’m glad this book is already on my TBR list!
