Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating. A similar meme, Can’t-Wait Wednesday, is hosted by Tressa over at Wishful Endings. If you’d like to participate in either one, don’t forget to link back to these lovely ladies and add your links in their posts.

My pick for this week’s “can’t wait to read” is

synopsispic

When her seventeenth summer solstice arrives, Brienna desires only two things: to master her passion and to be chosen by a patron.

Growing up in the southern Kingdom of Valenia at the renowned Magnalia House should have prepared her for such a life. While some are born with an innate talent for one of the five passions—art, music, dramatics, wit, and knowledge—Brienna struggled to find hers until she belatedly chose to study knowledge. However, despite all her preparations, Brienna’s greatest fear comes true—the solstice does not go according to plan and she is left without a patron.

Months later, her life takes an unexpected turn when a disgraced lord offers her patronage. Suspicious of his intent, and with no other choices, she accepts. But there is much more to his story, and Brienna soon discovers that he has sought her out for his own vengeful gain. For there is a dangerous plot being planned to overthrow the king of Maevana—the archrival kingdom of Valenia—and restore the rightful queen, and her magic, to the northern throne. And others are involved—some closer to Brienna than she realizes.

With war brewing between the two lands, Brienna must choose whose side she will remain loyal to—passion or blood. Because a queen is destined to rise and lead the battle to reclaim the crown. The ultimate decision Brienna must determine is: Who will be that queen?

The premise of this book sounds incredibly fun and so intriguing! What’s your Waiting on Wednesday pick today? Share those books, so I can add more on my TBR!

  1. I loved TQR (I wrote a review on my blog!) – even though it’s a little predictable, I really enjoyed it, and the romance is perfect! As for my WoW, I can’t wait to read Daughter of the Siren Queen, which comes out next month!!

    • Glad to hear that! I have the first book, but still have not read it. Daughter of the Siren Queen looks absolutely gorgeous and I’m definitely adding that to my TBR. What did you think of the first book?

  2. I’m excited for this one too. Hopefully my library gets it, because I’m broke. I’m hoping my tax refund is decent so I can treat myself to a few books, but that would require me to do my taxes, and I usually put that off until last minute lol.

    • Awww I feel the same way about filing taxes. Besides my book subs, I haven’t bought that many books for the past few months. I’m actually planning on going through my books sometime this year and see which ones I can giveaway cause I’m legit running out of space at my house. And it looks like this year there will be a lot of books that I want to eventually get lol.

I try to mostly purchase books from bookoutlet and used book stores. If I really want something, I order from Amazon or if B&N has a coupon I’ll go there too. Last week, I found The Chaos of Standing Still in extremely good condition at a Goodwill near my house. I almost gave up looking because all the books were old and beat up, but not Chaos… It looks Brand New and I got it for $2.99!!! It doesn’t even look like whoever donated it read or opened the book. I love when I find good deals like that.

Hope you do get an amazing tax refund! =)
